2 of 5 VERY buggy when working with MP3s Sunday, December 04, 2005

I got a great rebate on this item so I decided to pick it up. When it comes to video, the device works great, windows media player will convert the video to guarantee playback. The problem comes when you try to upload a large number of MP3s. Out of about 1000 songs that I uploaded, about 200 of them come up with errors which make them unplayable. I have tried to delete them and reload them with the same error. Also, you cannot manually load the files, you HAVE to use windows media player, which is one of the worst media player when it comes to large MP3 collections. If I had to pay full price for this device I would return it in a heart beat. Was this review helpful?

great Device...very nice audio quality...Clear pictures....Two drawbacks...It only plays video in WMV format so you have to convert all your videos but that saves a lot of disc space...second problem with it is that the processor is not very fast..like if you're viewing a slideshow and you chage to the next picture again and again, it takes time to do so....Rest all is great....i highly recomment it if you know how to conver your image files to Jpeg and how to convert video files to WMV format. The Zen Portable Media Center is an excellent little device, and the screen is surprisingly big considering the overall size of the unit. Battery life is pretty good, and the synchronization with MCE 2005 and/or Windows Media 10 is simple and seamless. 20GB is a little small for as much musing as I have ripped, but it's primary goal is video. Keep in mind this unit doesn't support DivX codecs, only MPEG and Windows MEdia formats. Synchronization goes pretty quick, and lets you record stuff the night before on MCE 2005 and watch the next morning on the bus/train/etc. Was this review helpful?
