5 of 5 X-Fi Wireless products Tuesday, May 12, 2009 CreativeFan from Houston, TX
One of the best product sets I have purchased and used. Painless to setup and great prices. I have an XMod transmitter on my computer, an Xdock transmitter on my home theater, plus Xreceivers on amplifiers in other rooms. They sound wonderful, volume is good, and all devices work without trouble! The Expanded fidelity is much better than you get from high bit rate MP3s & M4a files. Good iPod functionality. 5 of 5 Excellent Expandable Docking Option at Low Cost Saturday, January 17, 2009 Listener from Washington, DC
I bought this to replace an Apple Ipod Dock because it promised to allow remote operation from another room, and to recreate better sound quality. It fulfills these functions beautifully. The circuitry, when switched on, deepens the sound lost in highly compressed mp4 or AAC files. The second unit operates the volume and controls tracks even in another room quite separated from the base unit. And while we are already wired for music in the whole house, I can operate and listen to the Ipod through the docking station even if the central stereo unit is off by running the output into the amplifier in the bedroom. I am considering more docking stations for other rooms. These are great features.
A couple complaints: the remotes are tiny and hard to read for these old eyes, and operate on the same frequency as too many other remotes (and who doesn't have too many remotes?) - I get unintended operations fairly frequently, even having programmed this one into my universal remote, which allows me to see which buttons I'm pushing in the dark, unlike the one which comes with the unit. (Of course, it is also not practical to do any other operations sitting too far away to see the Ipod screen or from the second room). Second, I am not able to use the optical audio out, because the one slot on my fairly old AV receiver is already taken. Thus I'm forced to use an adaptor from the headphone jack in the front of the unit into a pair of RCA plugs, which works (I assume there's a decrease in signal quality from this), but requires the adaptor be stuck in the front of the unit, dramatically altering its elegant appearance. These appear to be the only two output options (I have not used any video out).
On the whole, however, these are quibbles compared to the positive aspects of the dock, which are considerable. For a remarkably low price you get an excellent, flexible and highly useful expandable system. (Buy.com sells this unit for about half what most other discounters sell it for, though additional docks beyond the included two are not discounted to the same degree.) I'm amazed more people aren't jumping on to this.

5 of 5 Pretty good Thursday, January 15, 2009 Viclyn from Decatur, Alabama
A little complicated to use, and you need your own speakers to hook up. But overall a great product, if you want to play your Ipod all through the house via remote control. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Wireless is great Wednesday, December 03, 2008 A Customer from Indianapolis, IN
I have been looking for an inexpensive way to connect my Ipod to my stereo and the wireless is a bonus! I have connected a second set of speakers in several locations in and outside my house and have had no reception problems. Very pleased. My only complaint is that the video connection does not work with my Ipod Classic. That is more of a problem with Apple changing formats all the time! Good product and Great price. 5 of 5 Works with Ipod Nano gen 3 Sunday, November 30, 2008 Suzanne Cody from Macomb, MI
I looked everywhere to tell if it worked with our nano gen 3. In the literature it isn't listed. I even contacted Creative and they told me there was no adapter for it. I had already ordered it for my husband because I thought he had Gen 2. It got here and we almost just sent it back, but decided to check it out. It works! Apparently an adapter came with his nano, but in addition, the case he had on it made if fit perfectly without the adapter! I'm not sure why it is not listed as one of the compatible devices!
Oh, and the unit works well. We bought it to control the ipod attached to the receiver in one end of our basement without having to walk into that room. The remote base doesn't control volume since we have our speakers hooked to the receiver in the theater. If we had separately powered speakers we would be able to control volume too. All in all, it does what we wanted it to do! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Wireless Receiver Works Great! Wednesday, November 12, 2008 A Customer from Vienna, VA
I have a covered patio in the backyard with 4 nice speakers but the stereo receiver is in the basement. With the Xdock receiver connected to the stereo in the basement, I am able to hear and control my iPod music in the patio using the Xdock transmitter. Since the signal between the receiver and transmitter is digital, the sound is very clear. The only drawback is the volume control, which cannot be controlled by the Xdock transmitter to control the volume of the Xdock receiver. Other than that, it is a great piece of technology for the price. I do not believe there is anything else out there in the market which can do everything that the Xdock can do for this price. Great buy! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 sooo nice! Wednesday, November 12, 2008 A Customer from Elkton,VA
My hubby likes sleeping to music, but I can't sleep if it is too loud. We bought a really great refurbished Nano and this system. Now he has the Nano and speakers on his side but I have the remote and can adjust the volume to suit me.No more bedtime arguments. I can even skip songs...the remote works great. The second unit is on my side of the bed for when I want to listen and he doesn't. The units are small, so now we have much more room than we did when we had the radio. If I get up before him and want to keep listening I can just unplug the receiver and connect it downstairs, eventually we will add more receivers. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works OK for iPod Touch (1st Gen) Tuesday, October 28, 2008 A Customer from Teaneck, NJ
I needed a dock, and they are all pretty expensive. For $50, this is the best overall value. I only use the base station hooked up directly to my speakers, I have not tried the wireless receiver at all.
Pros
- Compatible with iPod Touch 1st Gen (you need to bring your own dock adapter, though)
- Sound enhancement modes (DSP?) actually do improve the sound.
- Sound quality is OK by me when using analog line-out cable.
- Charges the iPod.
- This could be my poor man's alternative to a Squeezebox.
Cons
- It seems that the dock predates my iPod model, so you don't exactly have FULL control of the iPod Touch's own features.
- Dock is rather large.
- Dock is a smudge and dust magnet.
- Video does not work for Touch, I believe. I never tested.
- Doesn't turn all the way off (sleep?). There is always an LED lit.
- Inserting the Touch is scary. It always feel like the connector might break off if I don't slide it in at an exact angle, even with the correct dock adapter. It does make an unpleasant sound when I do this. Maybe this applies to other docks as well, I don't know.
- Layout of remote control buttons are not so intuitive. I had to hunt for the PLAY button. Come on.
Overall, I'm very satisfied. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works Great Tuesday, October 28, 2008 Terry from Cave Creek, AZ
What a value if you are looking for a device to charge your iPod and connect it to a stereo. If your stereo has a optical audio input this device is excellent! (but also works well with RF connection) The additional wireless receiver is just a bonus, I connected it to my Bose clock radio in my bedroom and it sounds fantastic. Also it does support video on the main unit by s-video connection. Not the greatest picture but decent. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just the perfect iPod companion Monday, October 27, 2008 Vivek from Chicago
I am more than satisfied with my purchase of this wonderful gadget. It has lots of options of connecting different speakers and for inputs. Also I have put a speaker at the transmitter by connecting to the audio output jack and one spk at the receiver. I only found one issue which is the transmitter frequency interference with my speaker at the transmitter. Because of that, I hear an annoying sound at the transmitter speaker but I guess that is because I dont have enough of isolation between the transmitter and the speaker. 2 remotes for the units are a great value and they both work with either the transmitter or the receiver. I have put one remote in my standing shower and so I can control my iPod while in shower!! The receiver can be controlled from the transmitter remote by turning the "Broadcast" on or off so that you can have sound at the transmitter or the receiver or both the places. Overall I would highly recommend this product. Was this review helpful?

The best wireless streaming dock I got so far, ITS EXPANDABLE!, sounded really good too......just ordered a second one, how could you go wrong with this price!
I got this to replace my DLO Music Dock, I like the DLO because of the LCD Screen on the remote, shows you the menu and playlist, I hope Creative try that next, you have to keep up with Logitech's Squeezebox right! Good Job! Was this review helpful?

Everything you expect and more. The sound is great and I was very pleasantly surprised that the transmitter has optical digital out allowing you to connect directly to your receiver or preamp. Most of the time for things like this you have to use an analog output using your ipod's DA converter which is not too bad for personal audio but if you have a better than average stereo or hometheater system you will find it wanting.
My only disappointment was there isn't a dock adapter for nano gen 3. But it came with pretty much everything else under the sun.
The features and range work great. I bought 2! Was this review helpful?

From performance standpoint, a great item. Temper that with the fact that I'm not transmitting through walls to distant rooms using multiple receivers but sound quality is great from my iPod mini (no video) to home stereo. No adapter included for my wife's Nano.
Each unit, transmitter and receiver has on/off, play/pause, and volume/mute. When in use, however, volume/mute on transmitter only affects headphones plugged into transmitter. I'm assured by Creative that this is by design but to me seems counter-intuitive and (overall sparse) documentation is unclear on this point. Other than this oddity, the unit is well designed, good fit and finish and performs admirably. Was this review helpful?

I wasnt to sure about this product because there was no reviews on it that I could find anywhere. 15 minutes after getting mine I ordered another one. I demonstrated it to a friend, he ordered two. It baffles me that these are still available. First of all it would be worth it if all it did was charges the Ipod while playing and having a remote control. It does in fact enhance the signal to main receiver, similar to boosting the signal. I use less receiver volume than if it was just sent directly from ipod. The remote does all functions but you have to be close enough to see the screen to scroll the menu. But changing songs and volume is a nice tool for ipod at a distance. Now for the reciever it says 100 ft so I did not expect much. I used it with self powered speakers in garage and a bedroom, both areas, signal is flawless, no static, no buzzing, perfect signal. Amazing quality. Two remotes... what a deal. I am tempted to buy more. For $100 I got two chargers four remote controls, two docking stations and two remote powered speakered rooms. I have a high end Denon and Klipsh speakered system so I appreciate quality stuff. I fully recommend this as an excellent ipod accessory. Was this review helpful?
