Great product for the cost, if playing music is your thing! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It Just works Tuesday, July 29, 2008 tgaffer from Brooklyn, NY
I installed this card on a brand new Dell XPS 420 to replace the onboard sound card. I noticed the difference instantly. It made my old Altec speakers sound brand new and better than they had ever sounded. I only use it for music so I don't know if it's good for gamers. Installing the card was as simple as could be. It just worked! I didn't install all of the software because it was repetitious of software in the operating system that works just fine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Tuesday, July 29, 2008 John Parrow from Key West, FL
A great sound board. Things would have been easier if I had uninstalled the older software first. As it was I had 2 conflicting sets of software fighting each other. I still can't use the diagnostic function, so will have to uninstall and reinstall again, oh joy. Creative takes a rather long time to install.
I also wish I could have bought a higher end X-Fi Exreme with more bell and whisrles. Was this review helpful?

I upgraded an older Sony Vaio to Vista and disabled the on-board audio and now have great sound using Vista. Was this review helpful?

I had no problems installing this card. I am using Klipsch pro media 2.1 speakers. I had high expectaions for this card and was not disappointed. Got this card for music only. Music sounds as good as anything I have ever heard.
I had a sound blaster Live. X-Fi sound is noticably better. Tight bass - High high's. 10 band EQ is nice for finer adjustments. Looking for a great sound card look no further. This card is for music or movies. Not for gamers. Buy.com had the best price. Was this review helpful?
