5 of 5 Cowboy Bebop is a must have!! Monday, February 14, 2005

Cowboy Bebop has become a staple anime show for anyone who loves this genre. The story of four bounty hunters in a space setting, is not so wild an idea, but the relationships between these characters are very intriguing. The story doesn't span the whole series, but rather pops up here and there, as the prime focus of the show is to showcase the protagonist in situations that involve their past. They each deal with their previous lives in different manners; some want to escape it, some want to reclaim it, but all want to step away from the pain that it caused.
The world that they inhabit is also a great spectacle to witness. There are intense spaceship battles as well as old style cowboy shootouts but they also implement sophisticated themes like immortality and love.
This series speaks out loud to people in different levels. It is a great thrill ride that doesnt dumb down to the viewer. It has many layers to explore but it wont confuse you as its message can be seen in clear descriptions. But again, this is not Rah-Xephon or something of that nature where there are huge concepts to realize for you to get the story. It's subtle and entertaining. Thats what makes it special. I'm not sure how to tell you how awesome this series is. Spike and his sidekick are bounty hunters set in an alternate future. Awesome action starts in episode one, and only gets better as the characters develop and new characters are added. After watching the first disk, you'll need them all. Was this review helpful?
