....and just buy it! I got this USB drive to back up all my most important files because my laptop had crashed for a second time and I lost a lot of files. I'm a graphic designer so I lost a lot of designs that I was really proud of.... and I hate doing things twice so they're lost for good now. I was worried about it not feeling as durable as they say it is. I thought it was going to be some cheap thin metal or not even metal at all. In the past I've bought USB drives that looked aluminum but were plastic. This one is very strong and I love that the cover screws on. I keep it in my pocket at all times and I hate those caps that just fall off and get lost. This one screws on and stays sealed. Other people are complaining about the transfer rate. I haven't had an issue. If you're transferring GIGS of data you should expect it to take some time. I've been backing up all my important files on it for MONTHS and I haven't even used half of it's capacity. Don't take as long as I did to finally make the right choice. Just buy it! You won't regret it.

The unit works well, is very fast, and is robust....but don't leave it in the computer while using it. It is easily damaged by a sideways push when in a USB port. Use the included USB extension cable to ensure you don't bend it like I did my old one, and have to replace it. Otherwise, a great unit.

This USB Drive was far and away the toughest of them all. The read speed is excellent, however, the write speed is a lot slower. Still, it's a great drive.

The only complaint I have is that the non-opening endcap came off when I took it out of the package. Strange for a device they claim can be run over by a truck. I used crazy glue to secure it and it works fine.

Pros: Large storage. Cons: This is so very, very slow. I tried to transfer/write a 3.3GB file. It took hours! I would not recommend this unless you do your transfers in the background, way in the background. A 900MB file took an hour! On a Mac, but reformatted for that machine; it was even slower before reformat. Anyone want to buy a 32GB drive cheap? I would do it, but given its transfer rates, it might take days to get there. At least I have a large storage device.

The Corsair Survivor is definitely the Cadillac of flash drives. This thing just works perfect and is ultra rugged. When you remove the metal shell, you get even more metal surrounding the actual flash drive. I was able to put my entire computer on this flash drive with 12 GB left over. Worth every penny. I highly recommend it if you want the very best.

Very sturdy but a bit larger than expected. Appears to be built well very well to meet environmental and water tolerances.

This device is great if you are looking to carry a lot of data around in your pocket. It also comes in a very hard casing which is waterproof and almost indestructible. There are a few downsides though, the casing is a bit large, it is much bigger than any other flash drive i have ever used. The drive also seems very slow when transferring data to and from it. I found it very sluggish especially when trying to run portable apps.

This is a phenominal device. I needed to replace my 4GB drive because I carry a lot of data. I was considering an 8GB or even a 16GB until I came across this baby. At first I thought the aluminum chassis was a bit overkill but now that I have had it for a month, it is an awesome design. Some people ding the unit for its slightly-larger-than-normal size but I have not had any problems with it getting in the way of another USB device or cable. And even if I did, the cable that comes with it will quickly remedy that problem. Just last night I had 11GB to back up on one my client's PCs that they were rebuilding. This drive handled it with no problem. I couldn't imagine burning 14+ CDs to back up the data. When the prices come down, I look forward to a 64GB version!!!

Purchased because I was looking for a drive to hold my coin collection.I was plesantley suprised at the performance and ease of use, I loaded my collection softwear and my collection, including pictures of each coin. The only disappointment was the security software it proved to confusing for me, but other than that, worth every penny I paid for the drive.

This is a great USB flash drive. I bought it to replace one that I really like, but that came off my key chain when its mount broke. This one seems really tough. It's going to take more than stepping on it or banging it against something to break it. It also is very fast, as accesses to it happen quickly and with little fuss. The only minus (for me) is that it is a little larger than it looks in the picture, and it's a bit large for putting in my pocket with the rest of my keys, as it's a bit uncomfortable if the pants are not a loose pair of cargo pants. Still it's a more than adequate replacement for my old USB drive, and I don't believe it will easily come off the key chain, which is the main reason I went with this model versus a couple of other 32 GB drives.

I've had many thumb drives over the years. 16MG, 256MB, 1, 2, 4 and 8 GB. This is actually my 3rd 16GB and probably my last unless I buy a second one (or a 32GB). I've had 2 Corsair Voyager 16GB flash drives. Pieces of junk. The small rubber cover slipped off if you just turned the unit upside down. I contacted Corsair about both of them with mo reply. I should have known, having bought toys. The Survivor will outlast me. Waterproof, shockproof, and although it is a little larger than most, the protective case that makes up the additional bulk is WELL worth it. I would have no qualms about water skiing with this unit around my neck! 4 on Ease of use because of the extra bulk, although an extension cable is included. 4 on Value because it cost a bit more, but well worth it.

Storage, storage, storage. Wonderful product. The survivor aspect is a hefty casing with o rings; but it's nice to know that a those little "whoops" in life won't impact this drive. I recall paying this much for a 8GB less than 12 months ago.
