Features: DVD Emmy Award winner Michael Chiklis stars as Tony Scali, a former Brooklyn cop now the Police Commissioner of a small upstate city. But for Scali, this is no desk job. From parenthood to politics, from sex crimes to murder cases, one man takes it day-to-day with offbeat humor and street- smart skill. It all begins in this premiere season of the Commish. The Commish: Complete First Season includes all 21 episodes from the 1991/1992 season of the hit ABC- TV series, and features brand-new interviews with stars Michael Chiklis, Theresa Saldana and co-creators Stephen J. Editor's Note
Tony Scali has just been appointed police commissioner of Eastbridge, New York. As a former Brooklyn cop, Tony uses tough and at times controversial methods to bring perpetrators to justice. This package offers the first season of the show, in which Scali himself is the object of the police and public scorn. The show's opener "In the Best of Families," finds Tony in the hot seat after the son of a prominent lawyer commits suicide while in police custody. Many of the memorable episodes show how Tony's professional life affects his family, as in "The Poison Tree," when Tony learns that his wife Rachel's colleague is accused of child molestation. Other topics include police department politics (some cops turn up missing in a two-part "A Matter of Life and Death"), local government issues, and a number of difficult and fascinating crimes.
