Adapted from Terry Pratchett's celebrated Discworld series, THE COLOR OF MAGIC offers a wonderful, if decidedly low-budget, rendition of the fantasy land that was originally broadcast on British television. As the story unfolds, wayward wizard Rincewind (David Jason) sets off with traveler Twoflower (Sean Astin)--not to mention his magical luggage--on a grand tour of the kingdom. Together, they cross paths with dragons, druids, and even Death himself (voiced by horror legend Christopher Lee). But their most important journey lies ahead of them, as Rincewind is called to save Discworld from the dastardly sorcerer Trymon (Tim Curry).
| Features | Inside a magical realm known as Discworld, a naive tourist is on holiday until a terrible fire breaks out, forcing him to flee along with an incompetent wizard. As the clueless pair set out on a magical journey across the disc, neither realizes that they are merely pawns in an elaborate board game being played by the Gods. After encountering a pair of barbarians, they take a trip to an inverted mountain housing dragons that only exist in imagination, survive a fall off the edge of the disc and attempt to beat the wizard's former classmate to a collection of spells that could save Discworld from total destruction. |
