2 of 5 Junk Thursday, January 22, 2009
A Customer from Spooner, WI

Worked for a few months, then died. Bought this just to tide me over on a second TV until Blu Ray comes down in price a bit. Decided to just buy the Blu Ray when this P.O.S. gave up after 6 months of light use. Probably would have waited a few more months to pick up the Blu Ray as prices are just starting to come down, but oh well. I guess it fit the bill for what I needed it to do, and that's it. Not worth returning, as shipping cost eats up way more than its value.

2 of 5 Tested it myself....... Thursday, January 01, 2009
Steven from Ohio
I bought this player mainly for Divx file playback and the USB and Smartmedia interface. Works great on DVD's, the disk drive plays media fairly well but the USB and SmartMedia slots pixilate when playing the same files I tried on disk. Picture playback is ok with the memory slots but that's not my main reason for purchasing the player. I'm hoping a firmware update will be out for this problem so I can use the USB flash drive for divx and other media files! I got discouraged with this player and decided to try the WD Media Player sold here on Buy.com...... It's plays all my files perfect!

5 of 5 Has lots of features for the money Monday, October 13, 2008
A Customer from Cashion, OK.
I haven't bought a cd/dvd player in a while, so I was surprised that this inexpensive player will play giga DVD's(mp3 DVD'S). That is about 45 cd's worth of music at the highest bitrate. Plus it has an SD card slot and a USB slot in the front for playing mp3's or viewing photos. The HDMI upconverting looks so much better than standard 480 resolution. As long as it lasts until the blu-ray players come down in price, it is a great temp. solution.

1 of 5 the 2 times it worked, it was fine Monday, July 14, 2008
Randall K from Chicago IL
If you are going to buy a Coby DVD player, buy the cheapest one you can find. This was the second Coby I've had that quit on me, this one in only a few months. The super-cheap one made it over a year. Looks good, though it's complete garbage.

1 of 5 it is crap Tuesday, May 27, 2008
A Customer from Saginaw, Michigan
Died in three months, customer service was rude, and cost of shipping for warranty is as much as the player.

3 of 5 Good (but flawed) temporary player Wednesday, March 26, 2008
JohnB from Asheville, NC
I purchased this player to tide me over until I took the plunge for a true hi-def machine. For the price and as a temporary solution, this works quite well. But it's not without some fairly disturbing flaws. For starters, DVD playback (even in many commercial discs) FREQUENTLY pushes the picture out of sync with the audio, forcing you to pause the movie for a split second to re-align them. Not a deal-breaker, but frustrating, nonetheless. Also, the unit powers itself down after a time and will not auto-bookmark your place on the DVD, so you'll have to fast forward and chapter skip to get back to where you were.

5 of 5 This is very good one and plays almost anything Sunday, March 23, 2008
A Customer from Plano, TX
This DVD Player is upconverting almost everything and playing most of the files through SD card and USB card. Very much satisfied the prices and performance. I would recommand anyone who want very low prices upconverter.

C Reynolds from Imperial , PA
I love this DVD player. Nice picture, easy to use. I had a Phillips DVD player with DIVX and it quit working. I have told all my friends about this machine. I will buy another one.

from
i have bought this product first in january. i used it for two days after that No DVD was playing. It just gets stuck in "Loadin..". I have tried all formats DVD +R, -R, +RW and even regular DVDs without any luck. so i called very good customer service at buy.com and they reply very good and sent me rma number and ups slip to ship this item. with in few days i got the another piece of same model. this one was even worst, because the very first dvd was got stuck in 15 minutes and after that any dvd i put, it say "loading". i am about to send back this second consicutive piece of crap...with co-operation from buy.com customer service. i am without the dvd player since two months now again i will have to look for another one..so you decide what you wants to do..

2 of 5 Fast forward/backward don't work on Divx movies Sunday, February 10, 2008
A Customer from Houston, TX
I could play DivX movies on this player, but the fast forward/backward didn't work. And the over all playback quality for non tradition DVD disk are poor.

5 of 5 Very good for the price Saturday, January 26, 2008
pcapeh60 from Alpharetta, GA
This is an excellent DVD Player for the price. Especially considering that it has an HDMI interface for excellent picture quality. You normally only find this on more expensive players. The only downside I have for this player is that it won't play all of my previously recored DIVX movies. Perhaps an upgrade will resolve this.

5 of 5 Best Buy So Far !!! Thursday, January 17, 2008
belden from West Palm Beach FL
You have to have an HDTV and an HDMI connection to see the difference between an ordinary DVD playback and an upconverting (up to 1080p) DVD playback! Though not as excellent as the real HD DVD at least you still get the best out of your old DVD collections. For the price that is half of my Philips 5982 DivX upconverting DVD player you sure get your money's worth on this player. The USB and an added SD ports are great features so you don't have to burn or transfer photos (movies and music)into disks. I just connect my external hard drive and you get an instant Home Media Center!!!. The 5.1 surround is ok, even though this player doesn't have DTS support, sound reproduction is superb (you can even choose from a variety of settings). Now for durability we still have to wait and see. Buy.com delivers the best (again)!!!
