LCD Screen displays stored images / Built-in Stereo Speakers / Displays images or MP-3 & MP4 files from your memory card / Black and White Faceplates

Those old photo frames atop your dresser, desk, night stand and on your walls are vignettes of memories captured as prints in the era of film cameras. The Digital-Camera makes available a technology where photos don't have to be displayed as prints. They're displayed on screen, much like that of a TV set or a Computer monitor. This frame uses LCD flat-panel technology and, at 2-1/4" deep, fits almost anywhere a standard frame would. The difference - this frame is not limited to display only 1 or a few pictures. A digital picture frame can display dozens (if not hundreds) of images off a digital-memory card.

Here's a dandy way to display all those digital photos you're accumulating. Display one or all (in slideshow mode) directly from an SD, MMC, xD, or CompactFlash memory card. It's a great way to view your favorites on a table or on a wall - just like a regular picture frame. Yet COBY DP102 adds a unique feature. It has built-in speakers so you can play MP3 and WMA Music files from your memory cards. You can even create photo slideshows with music. The DP102 has a USB port that lets you play photos stored on digital media drives. Its LED Backlit screen delivers bright images for viewing in almost any situation.

This is a perfect frame to give to your parents and grandparents. Let them see pictures of you all the time from a memory card you provide them. It has a Dual-volt AC Adapter for international capability.

5 of 5 Digital Photo Frame Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Carol Watkins from Diboll, Texas

This photo frame was perfect. It was very easy to use. It had a very wide viewer area. Pictures were easy to delete and add. It had several ways to show photos by memory cards of different sizes or the memory stick which we chose. Family or friends can actually plug in their memory device so my Mom can view it right from their camera or phone or whatever. Also she can pack this in a suitcase and take it to reunions to share with others. My Mom gave each of us a memory stick to put photos on so she can change what she is viewing. It also plays music and switches photos at whatever frequency you want. My Mom has photos all over the house but this allows her to have all of them at her bedside. My dad passed away last year so seeing him in photos was especially comforting to her. She had never received a gift she liked more!

4 of 5 A couple of issues with item Sunday, May 25, 2008
A Customer from Houston, TX
Overall this photo frame works fine. Three items I don't like. (1) For some reason about 1 out of 30 photos will not display properly. It splits the occasional photo vertically down the middle and distorts the two halves. (2) I thought the USB input recepticle would allow me to plug in a USB thumb drive, but no. You have to use some other type of flash memory card. (3) I didn't pay much attention to the statement that it will play MP3/MP4 ... what this means is that it won't play downloaded wma (really annoying since I paid for the downloads). You will have to convert all music to MP3/4. Other than these items, the pictures look great and music is nice.

3 of 5 Good, Cheap Frame Saturday, April 19, 2008
Karl-D from Claysburg,PA
Does the basics (displaying photos) fairly well. Wide aspect ratio makes typical 4:3 digital photos look stretched or leaves black bars on sides. Some would say to re-size photos to fit the frames native resolution, however I could not determine what the native resolution is. The resolution listed in the specs and on various other reviews did not seem to match the resolution of my frame. Also would not play motion jpeg videos from my Fuji camera. I tried compressing video into some of the other supported formats and still couldn't get it to play.

5 of 5 Everyone loves the frame Friday, February 01, 2008
S Briggs from TX
Used an old SD card from an old digital camera I no longer use (256 MB), allows over 150 pictures to shuffle on through the frame. Friends are e-mailing pictures to me to be added to the shuffle! Only complaint is true with all LCD devices, the picture becomes less bright at greater viewing angles.

5 of 5 Its a real good buy! Monday, December 03, 2007
Tirumal from Cambridge, MA
I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I am very happy with the deal. Screen is very bright and resolution is very good. Pictures looked really bright and with the screen brightness control, I could make even some of my dull pictures look better. Remote control operation is pretty straight forward and very easy. Good thing about this product is it has five different card readers and MP3 playback options. So, it can just play from any media card we have and plays everything. Its really cool!!

5 of 5 Good value for the money Monday, December 03, 2007
Jorge from Chantilly, VA
I ordered two of these as a gift for my parents and my in-laws. Buy.com shipped and delivered fast. The frames are intuitive and easy to use, you can use many different memory types and set the transition time between pictures. I liked the interchangeable faceplates, so I can switch to the black one. I'm not too big on the all-white design, which is nothing fancy and not all that high quality; although you don't see much of it once you set it up as it is mostly visible from the back.

5 of 5 Great photo frame Sunday, December 02, 2007
accipiter1@sbcglobal.net from Lake Jackson, Texas
I recently purchased a Coby 10.2 inch digital frame for my wife along with a 2GB SD card. Excellent value and setup was a snap. The frame works flawlessly so my wife now has a slide show of family pictures in our bedroom and she loves it. Now I'm going to have to add a whole bunch more photos to the SD card for her but it's a snap. Great value and great performance. I couldn't ask for more.

5 of 5 Nice and Bright photo frame Thursday, November 29, 2007
A Customer from Woodbury, Minnesota
I have always want to have one of digital photo frame. This one caught my eye due to its abiity to play MP3 and Video. I got it in a few days after I ordered. I copied some of my pics , MP3 files and AVI, MP4 files on a SD card. It is bright and clear, even can see clearly from 10 feet away. The remote control is nice. The speaker itself is fair but I can connect to my stereo system for better sound. Anyway, it is one of best digital frames I can found in the market.

4 of 5 Good display but with functional limitations. Thursday, November 29, 2007
L. Schissler from Longmont, CO
Can't compare with any other frame - this being my only exposure. First it has 800 x 480 pixels, and down-sizes .jpg's to fit, occasionally some not successfully, (the unsuccessful pics are distorted and folded over or just a blur). Simply downsize the "fold-over"s (etc) manually about 10% or so. It also accepts only color pics as valid. Black & whites such as those old B/W prints scanned in B/W are rejected. Fix : rescan as color. The major shortcoming (in my estimation) is that there is no way to pause a slideshow and then resume - can only "stop", which puts you back to pic #1 of show. Operationally, after a flashcard is inserted and "photo" card-contents selected, the first page of 6 "thumbnails" is displayed (with the number of total pages of .jpg's indicated). All of the thumbnails can be manually (and laboriously) displayed, or all can be displayed fullscreen. The slideshow can be started at any point. The little "remote"'s buttons must be pressed hard, until they click. For fullsize display of "portrait-oriented" pics, they need to be separated out and batch-rotated 90 degrees to left, and loaded onto another flashcard for display (with the frame also rotated). The frame's finicky rear support leg can be rotated for landscape or portrait displaying, or removed for wall-hanging. Prepping a proper slideshow is tedious and time-consuming if using pics from your archives. You must test the show to determine which pics must be fixed(downsized, etc.). Pics previously cropped for 4 x 6 printing (or scans of 35mm slides) make best use of the frame's widescreen.

5 of 5 My mom loves it Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Michael from Miami, FL
I bought this as a present for my mom. No more photo albums and printed pictures. The pictures look great. Its very simple to use. Just put in a memory card and turn it on. The frame itself is pretty cheap feeling, but the picture quality is great. I wanted the largest size, good quality for the lowest price. That's the Coby.

5 of 5 Best Digital frame for the money Tuesday, September 25, 2007
RWestman@Cox.Net from Bellevue, NE
This is by far the best digital frame I have found for the cost. The picture is GREAT. I use two different memory sticks for this frame. One is always in the frame showing the current pictures and a second memory stick when I want to add pictures. All I have to do is add the new pictures to the memory stick and swap them out. The only thing to remember is to use a program that will set the proportion of the picture to 16:9. I use Thumbs Plus Pro for this operation. I do not have to change the resolution, the digital frame handles all that for me.

5 of 5 Very Good Digital Picture Frame Monday, August 13, 2007
Larry from Chapin, SC
I ordered the Coby DP102 10" Photo Frame. I bought it as a present for my 88 year old mom because she said we didn't give her any pictures. I loaded some family .jpg photos taken with my 6 megapixel Canon digital rebel on a 124MB CF memory card. I turned the frame on and put it in load mode and then had it display as a slide show. My mother was very impressed and she now has pictures of my family along with those of my 7 sibblings' families. I have ordered two 1GB SD memory cards and hope to give my Mom as many pictures as she wants to watch. As we take more pictures, I can swap in the second card and change the pictures she is seeing. I have not used the MP3 feature because Mom is hard of hearing but the photos are clear and the color is impressive for a frame at this price.

4 of 5 Great 10" Coby digital picture frame Monday, August 13, 2007
Warren from Northville, MI
I love the digital picture frame. It's very easy to use and has great resoulution. I use it in 'slide-show' mode every day both at home and at work to scroll through hundreds of photos. I plan to buy a second one to keep permanently at work. I haven't tried the music features yet. My only dissapointment was that it won't play AVI videos directly, despite the claim in the manual. After calling tech support, I found out you have to convert them with a program. I haven't had time to try this yet.

3 of 5 File format is really important Sunday, August 05, 2007
A Customer from Durham NC
The frame looks good. It works well for pictures and MP3. However, I met big problems with the video. Both the file formats of my camera and camcorder do not fit the frame. I also copy some other .avi files to the frame. It dose not work. That may due to the existence of many types of .avi files.

5 of 5 Good Price for Nice Frame Thursday, June 21, 2007
A Customer from Minneapolis, MN
This was my second one. I ordered the first one for MotherDay. It came with one of the outter-clear-frame corner broken. I called and got my refund and shipped it back. The support person was very helpful and tried to re-order a different one for me. Unfortunately, it was out of stock and would not have made it for MotherDay. I checked back a couple of weeks later and ordered this one. I would recommend this one because of the high resolution, size, and price. You want the highest resolution so the picture will be sharp (this is 800x480). If the same resolution were on a smaller one, 8 inches or so, the picture will be even better. I like the bigger size because you can have it on the wall and still see it from far away. The price can't be beat compared to other frames with similiar specs and size. I have not gotten the background music to play while the slide show is running; will try to figure that out. When viewing, there are two black bars on either sides of the picture. If you select to fill the whole frame with your picture, to get rid of the bars, it will be streched. I think this is with all frames that is 6:9 ratio because most camera does not take picture in this format. I am planning use a photo editor to crop my pictures into this ratio, then save it back into the memory card and view it that way. I think it will work.
