    We had purchased a different model of this phone for my Mother in assisted living which worked well for her (she is nearly deaf). She also had an amplified cordless phone for the living room which was basically useless. So we purchased this one for the living room. She is much happier with it and can hear better. The cordless one simply didn't have enough amplification for someone with a significant hearing loss.
