| | | | Product Guides | | | | Harness the full power of your network over multiple devices, all from the comfort of your desk. Formerly Linksys Business Series, now Cisco Small Business Unmanaged Switches, the SD2008 Desktop Switch allows the connection of up to eight separate devices into your network. Unlike a network hub, this switch doesn't split your connection. Each device you connect to the SD2008 can tap into transfer speeds of up to a gigabit per second.
Integrated features like advanced store-and-forward packet switching and auto partitioning help ensure that the quality of the data passing through the switch is consistent and optimized. The SD2008 supports 10/100/1000 Mbps connections in either half- or full-duplex mode.
| | Features | | Eight 10/100/1000 Mbps ports with automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection | | Signal regeneration to help ensure data transfer integrity | | Increased transmission reliability via address learning and aging, as well as data flow control |

5 of 5 Perfect for the Money Thursday, March 19, 2009 A Customer from San Francisco CA
This is a great SOHO switch, it works well and it's very small.
As may have been noted here and other places, the previous versions (prior to v.3) have heat issues and eventually fail. I've replaced 2 of them so far, but Linksys will RMA these for you at no cost, you just have to ship them back.
For the money one of the best switches available. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very satisfied Thursday, December 18, 2008 A Customer from Spring Lake, MI
Couldn't be easier, just plug it in, connect the cables and everything works. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Linksys standard quality -- it just works Saturday, October 25, 2008 netwizzard from Fort Collins, CO
I had bought the Linksys 5 port gig switch and needed more ports. It meets all of my normal expectations for Linksys. With the price drop on the 8 port switch, the price/performance is outstanding. Just plug and go, like it should be. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works Tuesday, November 27, 2007 A Customer from Westport, CT
I have little knowledge of networking.
All I can say is that it works. I upgraded from a Linksys 100Mb switch. As soon as I plugged this baby in, my PC and NAS drives recognized the faster speed. I was planning on being up all night trying to figure out how to get this thing to work. It worked so I went to bed.

5 of 5 Price is right! Wednesday, June 13, 2007 Imran Ahmad from Aquebogue, New York
I was looking to upgrade my home network to a Gigabit and this fits right in. The delivery was free of charge and on time. So far it’s working well… Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Small, Fast, Silent Wednesday, February 28, 2007 Thomas from Layton, Utah
I couldn't be happier. This 8 port switch replaced a 1U Cisco 16 port 10/100 hub that I have been using for 6 years. The Linksys 8 port switch is less than a tenth of the size, it adds no measurable latency (perfect for games) because it is wire-speed, and it is completely silent. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Great 8 Port Gigabit Switch, No Fan Noise here Tuesday, September 12, 2006 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Other reviewers have stated an issue with Fan noise. I can state that my version purchased August 2006 has zero noise. Either Linksys was able to remove the fan due to electronic design changes or the fan is silent. I placed my ear up to it and it didn't make a sound and I unplugged it and plugged it back in just to make sure. The switch is small and works perfectly. The auto port detection works nicely and allows you to daisy chain other switches or hubs off this devices ports without having to buy special roll-over cables. It does it for you with no manual switches either. Nice feature. This is the perfect little 8-port switch. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Switch, No Fan Noise Issues Friday, September 23, 2005 Roy Love from Long Beach, California
I agree with the previous reviewers, this is a great “little” switch. It delivers as promised. Apparently Linksys has addressed the fan noise comments.
The unit I received does not have any of the fan noise problems. Thanks, Linksys!

4 of 5 Superior performance, price is right Wednesday, March 09, 2005 A Customer from Brussels, BE
I've bought a couple of Linksys SD2008 switches for home use and was put off at first by the noisy fans. But this can be overcome with relatively little efforts. Once the noise problem is sorted out, the SD2008 is a great piece of hardware. It does line-rate forwarding even at the smallest packet size, so if you have a couple of Gig-E capable computers on the network, you can expect a real boost when transfering large amounts of data (2-5x improvement in practice from FastEthernet). I liked its stylish metal casing, the external power supply (the switch itself is tiny), and the fact that it does auto-MDX: no more head-scratching if you should use a straight or a crossed cable. Too bad the switch doesn't support jumbo frames. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Works As Advertised Wednesday, September 01, 2004 GLS from Cleveland Ohio
My only complaint is that this very small switch (I was amazed at how small 8 ports have become) has an equally small fan inside. Since it's so small, it runs at what sounds like higher than normal RPM's. IE: it's pretty noisy. More noise than my tower computer with the case open and 4 internal (normal size) fans running!
I don't recommend this model for desktop use where you will be sitting anywhere near it. It's really loud! Was this review helpful?
