 Editor's Note
Acclaimed Hong Kong New Wave director Wong Kar-Wai presents a kinetic, offbeat look at his city in these two stories. The first concerns a young woman (Brigitte Lin) who has been double-crossed in a heroin deal and her budding romance with a lovelorn cop (Takeshi Kaneshiro). The second deals with another officer (Tony Leung) whose girlfriend has left him and the young waitress (Faye Wong) who tries to help him without his knowledge.

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 One of Wong Kar-Wai's best films... Saturday, May 04, 2002 noise64 from ny
Hong Kong was very screwed up during the early 1990s and Wong Kar-Wai captured the sense of how people were dealing with it at that time. He was editing his other film "Ashes of Time" while filming this film. Both films are great, but Chungking Express had the youth spirit feeling. Chris Doyle at his best with the cinematography, and with the best cast ever- Faye Wong, Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Bridgette Lin, and Takeshi Kaneshiro. About Ex-Boyfriends, ex-girl friends, drug smuggling, Blonde chinese girls, cops going to the same fast food restaurant and bar "California", listening to "California Dreamin'" and Garfield with a T-shirt. Basically, CKEx is a big dream with three or four stories interwoven together. The best movie ever made in Hong Kong and possibly will always be. It's in Cantonese with English subtitles, 1:66:1 anomorphic widescreen and Introduction from Producer Quentin Tarintino and original Hong Kong trailer.
