It was the 3rd perfect season for The Clemson Tigers as they capped off an 11-0 regular season by beating Nebraska by a score of 22-15, in the 48th Orange Bowl. Up 22-7 in the 4th quarter Nebraska made it a game with a late touchdown and 2 point conversion. Clemson's defense led by freshmen middle guard William "The Refrigerator" Perry and All American safety, Terry Kinard, shut down Nebraska on their final drive to capture the championship.
