5 of 5 Reliable drive Tuesday, August 18, 2009 Leon R Pinto from Ruston LA
I took this hard drive to three different countries and used it in the most harsh conditions. I also dropped this hard drive 2 times on a hard floor. Still my hard drive work as it was new. I am very satisfied with the product. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Reliable in Question Monday, June 22, 2009 Robert from Houston, TX
I have bought about 10 external hard drives all from Cavalry the past few years. I've had about half of them die on me...several of them with fan problems and others with switch problems. Have been able to get one replaced from Cavalry. Therefore, since this one has died, it has become my last one. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great drive for the price Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Brookevillean from Brookeville, MD
Easily one of the best values in external 1 TB hard drives. I really wanted a drive with firewire ports as well but I couldn't pass up the price on this drive. My last large capacity drive was a Western Digital that I went with due to the name and dual USB 2.0 and Firewire ports but it didn't last a year and I paid a premium for it. Hopefully, this one will last longer.
Not much to do in setting this up. It is already MS Windows NTSF formatted. Just take it out of the box and plug it in. Very quiet drive as well. I will probably add more of these drives to some of my other PC's for backup purposes.

5 of 5 Great value for the price! Tuesday, May 05, 2009 A Customer from High Point, NC
Excellent value, 1TB for under $90! Pre-formatted to NTFS format and so far a very fast and quiet drive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Can format with Linux! Saturday, March 21, 2009 Joshua from Eastpointe, MI
This product shipped fast and worked great! If you need to go between Linux, Windows, and Mac, then format the drive to Fat32 when you get it. GParted works fine for this.
Of course, the rebate system is horrible! It's like they're purposely trying to get people to not do the rebate (surprise, surprise, right?) The rebate form asks you to go to MIR411.com and then use something from there on your envelope with a code and blah blah blah... Just go to the website if you want to see what I am talking about.
If any companies are reading this, please avoid using this mir411 service if possible. Try using a *THICKLY* veiled attempt at getting people to forget about that rebate ;) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best Brand and Smallest Size for the $ Tuesday, March 17, 2009 DataJunkie from St. Louis
I am a bit of a data junkie.. I am on my fifth 1TB drive.. All Cavalry..This one is the smallest with the least amount of heat and noise out of all them.. Got this one with a rebate that is just a reason to be so annoyed that you forget about it.. Other than that.. next month when I run out of space I will be looking to grab one of these for under $100.. Delivery was normal under 7 days with free shipping.. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pretty much works as advertised Wednesday, December 03, 2008 Brandon from Oconomowoc, WI
This is the first external drive I've owned, and so far it does what I need it to do. I know there are less expensive alternatives out there, which is why the value gets a ding, but this one seems to work as advertised. For what it's worth, I use a Mac, which needed to reformat the drive to use it for Time Machine, but it all happened automatically with no issues. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good buy for the money spent, and Reliable Tuesday, November 04, 2008 A Customer from troy,mi
I read the reviews and decided to buy it. For the price after rebate it was worth its weight in gold. Most for the same amount I was getting was 640 GB.
The hard drive was easy to install, and no probs in identification on the XP OS.
Good performance, and speed is pretty good too for data xfer. Might have been faster with firewire probably.
I've not tested the one touch back up, but is having a software that needs to be installed and then a designated folder is backed up.
I've had this for 3 weeks now, no issues. Was this review helpful?

Surprisingly small, completely self-installing, runs very cool. Only wish it was a bit faster (though definitely not slow). Was this review helpful?

I have six of these drives(cavalry). Actually four are the silver ones, but I would wager these use the same drive. Anyway, all six of mine have the WD "green" drives in them. One has been running forever on an HD-DVR with no problems. One had maybe two hours of run time on it before it failed on me. Third one is in use now and running fine. The others are in the box. They dont run all that hot, and at this price they are a bargain. Was this review helpful?
