5 of 5 So far, so good Tuesday, July 01, 2008
Calvin from Mobile, Al.

Drive is as advetised. Plugged it in and it worked. I have only had it less than a month and so far, so good.

5 of 5 It does the job, no muss, no fuss Monday, June 30, 2008
Guy from Los Gatos, CA
Not much to say, except that the drive does what it's supposed to do, without any glitches in my experience. You plug it into the wall, you plug it into your computer's USB port, the OS recognises it, and away you go! No muss, no fuss. Just what a hard drive is supposed to do, I think! Hope that helps! Guy

5 of 5 Reformatted for Linux ext3 Monday, June 30, 2008
Mike from Grapevine Texas
Received the drive and hooked it up to an old 500Mhz PC running Ubuntu 8.04 (headless box sitting in the corner as a file/print server). The PC recognized the drive no problems. I reformatted the disk for ext3. I now back up the content portion of the fileserver everynight via a cronjob and rsync. Flawless performance up till now.

4 of 5 Cool & Quiet Thursday, June 26, 2008
hornmr@embarqmail.com from Wasco, Oregon
Good: Hardly any heat at all. No fan, so no noise. Bad: Says 500GB, only 465GB useable space. Why don't they say it's a 465GB hard drive? All in all, I like it better than the Lacie HD I bought for more money.

1 of 5 Not a happy camper Monday, June 23, 2008
A Customer from West Chester, PA
Mine doesn't work. I copy data to the drive and it locks up. (not responding) a few minutes into the copy. If I hadn't already chucked the box I'd send it back

5 of 5 Very Quiet, Great Value - Excellent for Mac Time M Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Henry H from Hillsborough, NJ
This drive *extremely* quiet (like half the noise output of another identical drive I purchased made by Fantom Drives). I realize that this is 100% a factor of what manufacturer's hard drive is *inside* the enclosure (and I have not opened the enclosure to determine the brand and model). However, just wanted to note that as of June 2008, Calvary is using an extremely quiet hard drive. On sale at buy.com for 80 clams at the time, for 500GB. It's a no-brainer. *********NOTE TO NOVICE MAC USERS**************. This drive (and almost all its competitors) is formatted for Windows (NTFS). First thing you need to do is connect it to your Mac, then launch "Disk Utility" (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility). Select the drive and click on "Erase" (which is the Mac equivalent of Windows' "format").

1 of 5 Warning--and some excellent advice Thursday, June 05, 2008
IW from New York, New York
My drive died after about 6 months, with about 500 CD's on it. I was pretty upset, but then got some great advice on salvaging the drive--to extract the drive and put it in a new USB enclosure. I bought a new SATA enclosure on line ($25), put in the drive, and voila! it worked! Now the drive works (I don't know for how long of course), but at least I backed it up immediately onto a new hard drive. Definitely try the USB enclosure switch if your drive dies--apparently it's effective 50% of the time. Even the drive manufacturer didn't suggest this possibility when I wrote to them to ask for help.

Work straight out of the box. Very quiet and pretty small in size. I am happy. After transferring all my stuff, I still have a lot of space.................
