The CAND Series is Cavalry’s new Network Attached Storage system. The CAND is a cost-effective external network disk array designed for the home or small office user. Connect it directly to your network and share your data with everyone on the network without a server computer, even while reading or writing data. Use it as an FTP server, media storage server or back up critical data. Network setup is simple, and you can leave the CAND on indefinitely after installation, meaning your files are always accessible. And setting up a print server without a dedicated computer is easy--just connect your printer to the built-in USB 2.0 port of the CAND!

The dual-bay array is encased in solid aluminum, boasting exceptional heat dissipation, remarkable durability, state-of-the art shock absorption and superior all-around performance. The large 2.5” cooling fan keeps the temperature safe and cool.

5 of 5 Good value Tuesday, April 08, 2008
Bob from Baltimore, MD

Better that I expected for the price. I've set up as RAID 1 and now have 500gb of mirrored backup space for < $300. The web interface is easy to use. Initialization of the RAID file system does take a while, but after that, it takes practically no time to set up. Did not try to use as an ftp server.

2 of 5 Bargain, but has some flaws Thursday, March 20, 2008
Josh from Michigan
Pros: -Great bargain, especially if you use Buy.com's credit card for additonal discounts. -The drives inside of this ARE Western Digital! -Performance is fairly decent on my basic 10/100 connection. -Unit is WAY smaller than I had expected, also very quiet. Cons: -No-name brand, no where on the box or the unit itself did it even say Cavalry! -Web GUI setup is very limited and poorly constructed. Again, doesn't even have Cavalry's name. Appears to be some 3rd party software they use. -FTP is a joke, you have absolutely no controls over anything. Was very hard to get setup for access over the internet...very slow as well. Works much better just to map the drive and run an FTP server like BPFTP. -User's manual and the box had grammatical and spelling errors! If it wasn't for the WD drives inside I surely would've returned this unit.
