5 of 5 An extremely compact and reliable hard drive. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Larry Hamrick from Missouri
I am very pleased with the size, performance and price of this hard drive. It stays very cool and quiet. I will buy more of this product. Was this review helpful?

Right out of the box this felt like a quality product: solid, heavy, nice fit and finish. Certainly installation was a no-brainer - plug it in and it's ready to go. But the first unit I received failed the second day I had it. Attempting to copy files to it would hang, and when I tried to reformat it, that hung too. Buy.com's RMA and replacement procedure was quick and easy, but between the time it took to get the first unit, ship it back, and get the second unit, I suspect it took over a month for me to get a working drive. On the second unit I have not tested the eSATA interface yet; I've left it plugged in to an external USB hub until I'm confident that it will keep working. Overall I'm pretty satisfied. You get a heck of a lot of storage for a darn good price. The drive is quiet, and as fast as any of my other USB drives. The eSATA should be even better. Was this review helpful?

The external drive is just what the doctor ordered for my DirecTV HR21 HDVR. Used the cable that with it, plugged into the DVR and everything worked like a charm. The proper sequece is:
1) Unplug DVR.
2) Connect the eSATA cable
3) Turn on your new Terabyte drive.
4) Plug the DVR back in
5) Turn on the DVR and wait for the reload.(about 10 minutes)
No problems and I believe it is working better then the internal drive. A 2 hour HD movie used to take up about 5% of the old drive, but with the new 1TB drive less then 1% Was this review helpful?
