The CADA-SA2H Series offers an unbeatable combination of RAID data protection, 3.0Gbit/sec eSATA speed and a vast storage capacity of 1TB (500GB mirrored). This dual-bay disk array features swappable hard disks and a built-in RAID controller. The unit arrives preconfigured in RAID 1 to protect your important data—if one drive fails, replace it with an identical drive and the data will automatically rebuild.

Leave it in RAID 1 mode for automatic background rebuilding and optimum security for your files, or configure to RAID 0 for increased data reading and writing speeds. Factory default is RAID 1 GUI mode, but also supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 0+1(safe 33/safe 50). Its SATA interface provides a faster boot process and quicker loading of programs and data. Ideal for saving hefty files, video, music, protecting databases or working directly on the drive, it delivers high-capacity performance and data security.

The unit is factory pre-configured in RAID 1 and ready to use out of the box. Install the easy-to-use RAID configuration software and the included SATA to eSATA bracket kit to take full advantage of the incredible set of features.

***For our Mac users we offer our CADT series that comes pre-formatted to Mac OS extended journaled.

5 of 5 Excellent price for a 1TB raid system Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Shipped in 3 days with all accessories as advertised. Re-formatted with Apples' disc utility for HFS+ for my Mac mini and downloaded the latest Steelvine GUI setup software from Silcon Image, inc. for MacOS 10.4 - a 10.5 version is also available (The included Steelvine CD may not contain the latest version for MacOS-X). I set up the drives for a Raid0 (stripped array) and was transferring a 16 GB file over the usb port in 15 minutes flat. I had a couple of emailed questions on usb performance which the Cavalry support people answered very quickly -good prompt support replies. USB 2.0 write performance is only 18MB/sec. but should be significantly faster on the SATA bus (The Cavalry support tech sent some performance data that I'd like to verify but I'll need to hack my mini to get to the internal SATA connector). In general, a very nice Raid package for a very good price ($169.00)

I bought this drive because I needed more space for backups and wanted the security of a mirrored drive. It arrived quickly, but was not easy to set up. I ended up having to contact Cavalry tech support. Although they give a number in their installation guide, they only offer support via email. Their suggestions weren't very helpful as they didn't give much detail. I finally managed to figure it out on my own, got the drive installed, partitioned, formatted and configured, and it seems to be running well. Overall, I'm satisfied, but not a product for those inexperienced with working with hard drives.
