Cavalry 160GB 2.5" 5400RPM USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive with Fingerprint Security

Having lost one USB flashdrive, I NEVER bought another storage device without security software. This Cavalry 160GB hard drive brings portable storage to a new level, and still provides the essential security software with the ease of a fingerprint swipe. Out of the box, the hard drive is well built and compact. It functions well, although I have not had it long enough to attest to long term performance. While the hardware is outstanding, the directions are lacking. They do not mention the little sliding door that protects the fingerprint sensor. It's a great idea, but if you are not aware of it and do not slide it open, then it will be impossible to register your fingerprints. I also had difficulty setting the partitions. I finally succeeded after installing software from a CD that was included, even though the directions said it was not necessary when using Windows XP or Vista. To offset the poorly written directions, Cavalry has OUTSTANDING customer service. I wrote an email to customer service over the weekend, and had a reply (from a human, not a robot) within hours, promising that I'd have tech support on Monday. Sure enough, an email from tech support arrived on Monday. After going back-and-forth a couple times, we got the software installed correctly, and I also learned about the sliding door. In summary, while I hope Cavalry improves the written instructions, I recommend this nicely designed, well-built hard drive, and I plan on future purchases from Cavalry because of their amazing customer service.
