Frank Abagnale wrote $2.5 million in bad checks, practiced law without a license, practiced medicine with no medical training, copiloted a Pan Am jet with a fake license, taught at a college though he was actually a high-school dropout, and managed to outwit and outrage is the hilarious, now-classic story of Abagnale's stranger-than-fiction international escapades, and his ingenious escapes -- including one from an airplane.

Stated for 2000 production at DreamWorks Entertainment, and now updated with a new afterword, Catch Me if You Can contains all of the elements of the most wildly imaginative fiction, except that all of Abagnale's exploits actually happened. Stylish, charming, and not one to skimp on luxury, Abagnale lived a sumptuous life on the lam from which he retired when he was 21. Now recognized as the nation's leading authority on financial foul play, Abagnale tells the ultimate true-crime story, from the point of view of one of history's most lovable rogues.

Annotation:
Frank Abagnale was possibly the world's most talented con artist. A high school dropout, Abagnale amassed millions of dollars by passing bad checks, playing the role of an airline pilot (including actually flying commercial airplanes), a pediatrician, a lawyer who worked for the state attorney general, and a college professor at Columbia University. He tells his own story here, detailing his outrageous scams with candor, gusto, and a wicked sense of humor.

THE FLEDGLING

A MAN'S ALTER EGO is nothing more than his favorite image of himself. The mirror in my room in the Windsor Hotel in Paris reflected my favorite image of me-a darkly handsome young airline pilot, smooth-skinned, bull-shouldered and immaculately groomed. Modesty is not one of my virtues. At the time, virtue was not one of my virtues.

Satisfied with my appearance, I picked up my bag, left the room and two minutes later was standing in front of the cashier's cage.

"Good morning, Captain," said the cashier in warm tones. The markings on my uniform identified me as a first officer, a co-pilot, but the French are like that. They tend to overestimate everything save their women, wine and art.

I signed the hotel bill she slid across the counter, started to turn away, then wheeled back, taking a payroll check from the inside pocket of my jacket. "Oh, can you cash this for me? Your Paris night life nearly wiped me out and it'll be

2 of 5 Don't Let Him Getaway With Your Money!!! Wednesday, February 19, 2003
Gale Cain from Akron, Ohio

This book is just simply terrible. I've tried to find something good to say about this book since I did poney up the money to read it and the only thing I could come up with is perhaps the real author of the book " Stan Redding " was winking at us behind Abagnale's back. This mans ego is out of control in this book, the story has way to many holes in it and Mr. Abagnale if you wanted to emulate Ferdinand Waldo Demara Jr you didn't make the mark and hopefully readers of this review will not be marks for this book.
