Max and David Fleischer were the OTHER animation company making animated features in the 1930s and this is a great one. The animation is top notch and the backgrounds are beautifully painted. It follows the story of Gulliver when he lands in Lilliput and finds two kings, one whose son is marrying the others daughter, fighting over what song to play at their wedding... Gulliver steps in and saves the day. Good music and timely comic relief from "Gabby" who was an early star for the Fleischer brothers. Max Fleischer was an animation pioneer and was responsible for hundreds of patents for things he invented for the animation industry. If you get a chance to see their other film "Hoppity goes to town" it is even better!!! Sadly "Hoppity" was released on December 7, 1941 and the studio went under as a result of the beginning of World War II. Was this review helpful?
