I bought this to replace several over-the-ear bluetooth headsets (Jabra, Motorola). This version looks a little less Star Trekish and works better for me. The over-the-ear versions never were loud enough for me whereas the earbud works much better. I do have a few criticism's. I wish the volume control was a little more flexible rather than just 4 levels but a minor limitation. And I also wish the blue light could be turned off. A little black marker has toned it down so no big deal. Lastly, it would have been useful if the charger connection was a mini-USB port but as I've bought two of these, I leave one charger at work and the other at home. No problems pairing with my Samsung Epix and it works with the MP3 player in the phone so I can listen to MP3's (mono, of course). The best part is the earbud stores in the clip when I'm not on a call so it is a little less of a standout than a normal bluetooth headset. Was this review helpful?

I feel particularly well qualified to comment, given several years now of bluetooth experience with many different units, including Cardo Scala, Jabra, Motorola, Plantronics, and several off brands. The feature that trumps a "hang from the ear" unit is the ear bud which is much more inconspicuous, comfortable, and you can hear quite well with it. Also, if you get tired of it in your left ear, move it to your right ear. Just be sure to have the clip on unit, which contains the microphone, clipped somewhere in fairly close proximity to your mouth so that the microphone is not covered at all. This is a no brainer as the wire leading from the clip on unit to the ear bud is fairly short. I clip mine near a top shirt button and people hear me fine. At $7.99, this is a bargain basement value like no other. I plan to order two more today as backup which brings up my final point. Inevitably all bluetooth units fail, are lost, or end up in the washing machine. At this price, one can afford to own three or four. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good basic bluetooth device Thursday, May 28, 2009 talking at 80mph from Mountain View CA
I bought this as a last minute purchase as I lost my Plantronics bluetooth headset and needed something quickly. This seemed like a safe choice and has turned out to be pretty good overall.
Biggest plus is the sound quality a lot of people actually told me that they can't tell I'm driving.
The drawback for me is the design, although I liked the wire that splits the device into two parts with just an earbud that goes into the ear, but in practice, when you're in your car and need to take a call this is quite cumbersome to deal with. A single headset is far simple - I actually missed some calls and had to call them back because I could not get the headset hooked up quickly enough.
But it's even cheaper now than when I bought it so it's a good little add-on to have, esp. in states like CA where it's mandatory to use a headset. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great bluetooth unit Friday, May 15, 2009 A Customer from Tampa, FL
This unit is far more comfortable than the ones that hang on your ear. The quality of the sound is pretty clear and the battery charge is about the same as other, more expensive units. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Excellent Headset & Great Value Tuesday, May 12, 2009 A Customer from Southern California
I waited on getting a headset because the over the ear models appeared to me as some sort of Borg implant. This one definitely does not. It is comfortable when worn and conveniently available when not.
The beacon used for the light is excessive and draws peer attention when the headset is on. A car charging option would have made this item perfect. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Convenient and comfortable alternative Monday, May 11, 2009 A Customer from Northern NJ.
This is my second Cardo S640. (Got an extra one to keep in the car and one in my laptop bag). I bought one last year and found it very useful - lighter than the ones that hang on your ear. You can take it out of your ear and let it hang from the clip, or slip it into the clip's holder. It is always close if the phone rings. I use it with my laptop for Skype calls and also with my Blackberry. I have had no problems connecting. The volume control has only 3 - 4 levels, I think, but easy enough to control with those settings combined with phone controls.
Great value and great product.

Works very well. Got one for my parents and after a small learning curve (this is their first bluetooth device) they have had no problems. My mom loves it because she can hear calls better using the ear bud on the headset than when using the cell phone speaker. Picked up another one for myself. Was this review helpful?

I am impressed with this device. It is small compact and sounds great. I was a little worried about the quality when I ordered it. I mean $9.99. Come on how good could it be? But I am glad I did. I was wanting something that did not have to hang on my ear. I am not always on the phone. But when I am I need to be handsfree. This device was perfect. When the phone rings the device does too. You just pull the earbud off it's cradle (built into device) and insert in ear pressing the answer button on earbud. After call just slip back into cradle! Was this review helpful?

If you are not comfortable with a headset inside your ear, this may be the answer. The headphone sits in your ear gently like an ipod headphone and the sound was excellent. The other piece is clipped to you so that if the headphone shakes loose you wont lose it. I have to see if I do better at not losing this one. I seem to lose the other ones too easily.
So far I really like it. Was this review helpful?

I have purchased many bluetooth headsets. None have been comfortable to wear. Most didn't get good reception or the person on the other end of the call couldn't hear me well. This headset clips to your shirt and has an earbud that is so light you forget about it being in your ear. It is very loud,(can be turned down by phone or headset itself), which I really need as can't hear well. The 60s rock music got me a little. For the money, you cant beat it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Well worth the money Tuesday, May 05, 2009 GMartin from Covington, La.
I have 2 Jabra headsets I used to use before I purchased this Cardo S-640. It sounds good on both ends even while driving with the windows down. I like that you can leave it clipped on your shirt and drop the earbud when not in use. One of the best headsets I've used and I've had many. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great value. Best BT for listening in loud enviro Tuesday, May 05, 2009 Rick from Tampa, FL
For the price, this is one of the best BT headsets I have used (I have used most of them -- Motorola, Plantronics, Jabra and Jawbone). It fits in the ear so you can hear in loud environments. It may not have the same noise cancellation capabilities of the Jawbone but you can hear conversations in any environment. For the price, it is a great device. Was this review helpful?

This little bluetooth device is great. It's easy to use, paired quickly with my phone, and sounds good. I'm gonna buy another in case I lose the first one. Biggest plus: it doesn't look goofy like those other bluetooth headsets hanging off of people's ears. This is as convenient as using an iPod earbud. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Product so far Sunday, May 03, 2009 A Customer from Norwood MA
Only problem is if your phone is in your pocket and not exposed like in a holder the voice becomes choppy or even breaks.
Rest I like the unique design due to nothing with microwaves close to your head. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Very good...still needs improvements Sunday, May 03, 2009 Antonio from Weston, FL
I have a convertible, so was looking for a "useful" bluetooth headset. The headset is very easy to pair, and very comfortable to use. The issue of the volume control does bother if you want to control the volume through your headset; I don’t care because I use the phone do it. I like the fact that the headset rings when I have a call, it was key for me.
The problem that I have is that people complains about not hearing me well when I am using it. According to my wife, she loses me a lot and I sound fuzzy. It does not happen when I use the original blackberry wire hands free set.
However, I am still happy with it, especially for the price that I paid.

This is my 2nd BT headset. It works very well and battery life is great. I really like the clip setup. The button is on the earpiece and is small and at times hard to find, it would have been better on the clip. I have only had on complaint about static (compared to the JABRA I had that everyone complained about). I have had my seat belt turn the volume down but I just move it to a different place. Overall a very good item. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent headset Wednesday, March 18, 2009 A Customer from Pleasanton, CA
It's extremely comfortable, much more so than those one-piece units that completely put their weight on your ears. Battery life is very good. You will never miss a call because the earpiece rings, so does the clip-on unit when there's a call. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Absolutely love it. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 A Customer from Prospect, CT
I originally bought it hoping it would reduce wind noise when driving with the top down, I'd be able to tuck the mic inside my shirt, but I'm loving everything about it so far. It sounds great, long battery life, comfortable, etc. No problems with my Motorola W755.
I didn't realize that the earpiece fits into the clip when you're not using it. You can wear it all day on your collar without ever noticing it. Would like to dim the brightness on the blinking LED, but not an issue.
Even appreciated the easy open package, no fighting with permanently sealed items that aggrevate you from the start. Was this review helpful?
2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 The one I used the most Monday, March 16, 2009 A Customer from Fremont, CA
I have bought 5 bluetooth headset in the past 2 years. This is the one I really used. The other headsets which require you to stick it in your ears or put a loop in your ears are really uncomfortable. The blinking light always remind me to turn it off if I don't need to use it anymore. I usually turn it on, clip it to my shirt pocket when I drive, only put the earbud on when there is call. And turn it off when I leave the car. The sound quality is great, actually it is better than using my phone directly. The only not-so-important con is the power button on the earbud needs some use-to. Was this review helpful?
2 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Pretty good for the price but not convenient Sunday, March 15, 2009 A Customer from boston
The sound quality is pretty good. the only one thing that I do not like is the charger,it is not universal USB charger,it is a different charger you have to bring it with you if you want to use the headset. not even the same as nokia charger. so I bought another headset again which could be charged through audio jack and USB. It was a great head set with clear sound and no echo or interruption when I was driving.
The annoying that is sound build-in headset; it is really loud and annoy others in the meeting or office working places. I tried to turn it off as instructed but it did not work. Was this review helpful?

The Cardo Systems S640 (Manufactured by Jabra) strikes a perfect balance between wireless headset functionality and comfortable wearability. Most Bluetooth headsets require the wearer to hang the entire device from their ear. This is unsightly and uncomfortable. The Cardo Systems S640 clips to your shirt collar, jacket collar or even your seatbelt while driving. Since the main body is clipped, you can simply place the earpiece in your shirtpocket, or even place it in the end of the unit, opposite the clip. When you get a call, put the earpiece in. This is not such a hassle since answering a call requires you to push the slender button on the outside surface of the earpiece.
Range is typical at ~30-35 ft with an unobstructed line of sight.
The unit has 4 volume levels which you must cycle thru from lowest to highest by pressing the volume button on the front of the main body.
Pairing was easy with my Blackberry Bold (9000).
The mute function description was printed incorrectly in the manual. To mute, press the volume button for 2 seconds until you hear a LONG (the manual says short) tone. To un-mute, press the volume button for 3 seconds until you hear a SHORT (the manual says long) tone.
talk time (~3.5 hrs) and standby time (6 days) are both excellent.
The voice dialing feature works well with my Blackberry Bold. Simply press the earpiece button once, and follow the commands. To auto-redial the last received or dialed #, press the earpiece button twice.
Bottom line, this is a very functional easy to use unit, and it won't leave you looking like a Blue-Tool with a techno-gargoyle hanging from the side of your head.

5 of 5 works as advertised Sunday, February 15, 2009 A Customer from lansing, MI
I am still looking for the perfect ear-piece; this is close.
Was able to pair with an LG VX5300 bit NOT on an LG Voyager. I'll go to Verizon to determine the issue there. But, I think the Cardo is worth the cost.
Do have a problem getting the earbud cover on - gotta be easier way that trying to slip something into an opening that is 1/3 its size. Was this review helpful?

I love it. The audio quality is super and battery life is long. It's much more comfortable and convenient than those on the ear ones. Strongly recommend! Was this review helpful?

I can't get use to the earbud, perhaps because I don't go around with an MP3 player or IPOD in my ear like most people nowadays. I do like the convenice of taking it out of your ear and knowing it's still on your person. Was this review helpful?
