This volume collects the award-winning run of Ed Brubaker on Captain America that made the character relevant for the first time in years. What Ed did here is simply phenomenal. Within the first two years of the comics collected in this volume, Marvel Comics' signature shield-slinger has to deal with elements of his past coming back to haunt him in the 21st century and a new governmental law that sounds like it could've come from the Salem witch hunts of the 1600s. The action never stops for a second, and there is more value in these comics than in most of their contemporaries on the comics rack. This volume collects the first 25 issues of Ed Brubaker's run on "Captain America" as well as Cap's 65th Anniversary Special and the "Winter Soldier: Winter Kills" special which focuses on a touching side story featuring one of the main characters from the regular book. If you want to get into today's comics at all, you should seriously consider reading this volume first.
