Chic, simple. Canon looked to the very first ELPH for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital ELPH looks only to the future: 7.1 megapixels, a 3x Optical Zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while Focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected. The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful.

5 of 5 Kickass little camera! Sunday, July 06, 2008
A Customer from san francisco, CA

Canon has not let me down yet. After much research, I decided this would be a nice little point and shoot and I was right. It's small, has Canon's fine image sensor in it, and it was very affordable. Of course it doesn't have full manual controls, but you still have quite a lot of options. And the nice thing about getting a Canon is you can put CDHK (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK) on there and have a whole bucketfull of options and fun stuff. I might have liked a bigger screen, but I probably should have gone for the SD750 in that case. All in all, very happy with my SD1000!

5 of 5 Canon PowerShot SD1000 Wednesday, June 18, 2008
A Customer from Stony Brook, NY
I use the camera mainly for industrial-type photos. So far I found it easy to use, versatile, and, best of all, it fits in my shirt pocket. The photos are good quality. Basically, this camera meets my needs very well.

5 of 5 Great size, specs & price Tuesday, June 03, 2008
Brian from Seattle, WA
Just what I wanted in a go-everywhere camera for traveling and just everyday. For times when I don't carry my DSLR, this slick camera powers up fast, captures great shots nearly always automatically, is worry-free and sips the battery gently, and lets me capture life as it happens without spending a ton or committing to a big camera bag. Highly recommended for casual users, travelers who pack light, and pro shooters that need a one-handed backup digicam. Get it here at Buy.com because their service, fulfillment, tax rates and dedication to customers are THE BEST!

5 of 5 impressive all around Tuesday, May 27, 2008
A Customer from greenville, nc
I'm very impressed with this small camera. Most important features for me: -Size is very likable...fits into my pocket with little notice. -Quick startup and quick to shoot. Very different than my older Nikon. It catches my 2yr old easily. -Video with audio! I use this camera 10x more than my regular video cam. The video looks great on youtube, looks better than I expected on tv/computer, and I always have a camcorder available since it's pocket sized! -Excellent resolution from the view screen. Doesn't seem important, but when you're zooming into a pict. you'll appreciate this. -Good battery life! I've simply had bad luck with AA rechargables, even when using well known brands. This little camera has shot probably 500 picts and hours of video and has been charges maybe four times in 6 months. Nothing compared to my AA rechargables. -Color, resolution, and clarity of pictures excellent. I shoot with a digital SLR, and this camera is a perfect backup. easy for the beginner, I'd suggest this little wonder to anyone.

5 of 5 Good price and fast delivery Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Norm Dunkin from Peachtree City, GA
As a professional photographer I wanted something small to carry around with me when I didn't feel like lugging along the big equipment. I searched all over the Internet for the right camera to carry when I go on road trips and get togethers. The SD1000 had all the right features and was in the price range I wanted to spend. Buy.com had the lowest price by far. It also arrived days before I expected it to.

5 of 5 Best pocket size camera Tuesday, April 08, 2008
chuck from elgin, il
This is the best pocket size camera available. It is very easy to use. It takes excellent pics and videos. The only thing I wish you could force the flash in auto mode too. You can force it in most all of the other modes. I have bought 4 SD1000s and have had no complaints at all. I like it's sleek basic retro design. I also prefer the black model opposed to the silver. With the black one the buttons are easier to see and find because of the contrast

5 of 5 Canon wins again Wednesday, February 27, 2008
CAM from Troy, NY
I've had two other models from Canon and was happy with both. For my third Camera I deceided to change and tried a Kodak. Did not like the slow response and had to get, well, another Canon. Canons are great for the price and performance. I am not a huge fan of the software and think they can do a little better, but as far as quality of pictures and speed, I love it.

5 of 5 great little camera Tuesday, January 22, 2008
rprice54 from Atlanta, GA
We wanted a pocket sized camera to complement our much larger kodak 10x zoom camera. I tried a pocket kodak camera but it was horrible. After some more research we came to this camera. the pictures are great, the features are great, it's very easy to use, no complaints. lots of onboard photo options from color isolation, to color swapping, to presets, etc. download the manual if you want a full idea. you can edit photos, crop, red-eye, etc. on the camera easily. one of my favorite things about this camera, is that after pressing the power button you are ready to take a picture in less than a second, and times between photos are just as quick. some of our older cameras have taken 5 seconds or more to get up and running. don't expect SLR photos from such a small lens, there are physical limitations to a small lens and how much light it lets in. our much bigger kodak 10x zoom still has better pics when compared side to side, but the differences are minute. you can only notice them when blown up full resolution on a high-res PC screen. I suspect the prints will be the same, 8x10 might show the difference. Overall, though, for a small camera we can carry anywhere, we love it.

5 of 5 Good camera for the price Tuesday, January 22, 2008
Don from Nashua, NH
I bought this camera for my granddaughter (she's 19) who had a Nikon camera (that she dropped) before. Her major complaint of the Nikon was the slow recovery time between photos, this one is much faster. Resolution is also beater of course. As is true for most cameras in this price range, the flash performance isn't great but for a point and shoot camera, it's a great buy.

5 of 5 Excellent Camera, Great Price Wednesday, December 26, 2007
A Customer from Chicago Illinois
Purchased as a Christmas gift. A major hit. Great holiday pictures out of the box. Owner had previously owned a digital camera and this Canon far surpased their earlier experience. Overall a great camera at a great price.

5 of 5 good for the price Wednesday, November 28, 2007
dz007 from NY
this is a really good camera if all you need is a compact camera to take casual pictures. the only thing I think they could improve on is the flimsy plastic battery closure, they made the whole case pretty nice with aluminum, I don't understand why they have to leave that piece a weak uncovered thin plastic. also, the auto settings under any low light conditions without flash takes crap pictures, but on manual they can turn out to be very good. it's not that hard to do some minor software tweaks, I wonder why canon shipped these with those settings.

5 of 5 Great buy for the price Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Yvgeniy from Trooper, PA
Beginning with looks, the camera has the cool black outlines, which look better than plain silver in my opinion. To each his own, I suppose. The performance of of the camera is most excellent so far. First of all, it's really fast. The camera starts up in some .25 seconds and switches between modes with about the same speed. This little thing offers just about everything your heart would desire even if you're a little more serious about photography. There's the movie mode (30 to 60 FPS), different shooting modes where you can control shutter speed, flash, compression of the images, wide range of resolutions, color replacement, colorizing, etc. I was pretty impressed with the amount of manual features available. I think the coolest thing about the camera is the photo stitch mode. You take a series of pictures and then you can use the special software that comes with the camera to put it together in one big scenic shot. I did a nice 360 degree one of my room, great results. The battery lasts a long time. The only bad sides of the camera that I noticed so far are the optical zoom is only 3.0X, maybe not a big deal but it does name a difference, and you can't use the optical zoom while in movie mode (which produces better quality video than my video camera, by the way). Overall, this is a cheap camera for what you get, and you get quite a pack of high quality features.

4 of 5 Good Camera - Odd Flash Friday, April 20, 2007
A Customer from Bronx, NY
So far the camera works ok. However, when the flash is enabled, it is a centered flash and is dark around a center lighted circle. Maybe I have to adjust the settings, but I don't like this feature.
