Canon PowerShot SD950 IS Digital Camera Review

Published on: 3/9/2008 8:18 PM
The SD950 IS offers an interesting mix of features that at times seem at odds with each other – a wonderfully compact and lightweight camera wielding a big 12.1 MP sensor matched with a somewhat pedestrian 36-133mm focal length lens with image stabilization, but no manual controls. Truth be told, Canon has improved this camera over its predecessor by the addition of image stabilization, as well as a higher resolution sensor with comparable noise performance....read the full review

5 of 5 Canon Powershot SD950 IS Monday, November 16, 2009
A Customer from New Jersey

Compact, easy to use, and it takes great pictures. The menus are intuitive. This is the second of these cameras in the family so if it didn't work well we never would have purchased a second one.

5 of 5 Canon SD 950 Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Mike from South Louisiana
I have the SD 550 and was happy with it. Used it mostly for work. Bought the SD 950 and was not disappointed. Canon makes an excellent compact camera. I rate this product as excellent and would recommend it to anybody. I have the Rebel XTi also with various lenes including L glass and the SD 950 takes comparable pictures when you factor in the price/performance values

5 of 5 pretty damn good. Wednesday, November 28, 2007
JohnnyB from NYC, NY
I upgraded from a 7 Mega Pixel Canon SD500 that I have used for a few years and was happy with. The SD500 had the Digic II firmware which I thought was great. The SD950 IS has the Digic III and it has some nice improvements. The focusing is improved and pretty fast, it also has face recognition which is pretty cool. The menu's were pretty much the same with some added improvements and easily learned. I started out using Olympus digital cameras but made the decision to change to Canon and was happy that I did with the SD500. I am even more happy with the SD950. I wish I would have paid what they are going for now. I paid about $60 more when I bought it.
