    5 of 5 Great Point-and-Shoot for the price Sunday, April 20, 2008
    A Customer from Texas

Bought this camera for my girlfriend and it's easy for her to use while still providing enough features to be useful. I was very impressed with the face detection and the fact that it used a rechargeable battery. Overall, my girlfriend and I are very satisfied and I would be comfortable recommending this camera to anyone interested in a point-and-shoot.

5 of 5 Excellent So Far Tuesday, March 04, 2008

We have not had it very long but so far this little camera is perfect. The quality is amazing and the size is even better. I was wanting something that I could carry around but not look like a tourist and bingo this was it.

5 of 5 Even better the second time! Thursday, January 31, 2008
    Mike K. from Rochester, NY
This is my second Canon Elph series camera and it looks like this one is even better than the first. My previous one was a S410 4MPixel model that I bought in 2004. I loved that camera and would have continued using it, except my wife sat on it when the lens was open, and wrecked the mechanics of the lens. The SD1000 appears to be an even better camera, and it costs about half what I paid for the S410 back in '04. The 2.5" LCD is a big step up over the old 1.5" one, and it's just what my aging eyes needed. The display is clear and bright, and the controls/menus are very easy to navigate and use. This camera is loaded with features, and it does way more than I need for my everyday point-and-shoot usage. One of my main requirements for a camera is that it be small enough to easily carry in a pocket, and the SD1000 fits the bill perfectly. It's almost exactly the size of a deck of cards, and fits easily into my pocket, even when I'm wearing jeans. Despite the small size, this camera is easy to hold and operate, and feels quite comfortable in the hand. Canon cameras cost a little more than some others, but they are consistently rated at the top for image quality, so I think it's worth a few extra dollars. Buy.com did a terrific job with order processing and shipment, as usual.

5 of 5 Amazing camera, amazing price! Friday, December 28, 2007
    Smak from Irvine, CA
You can't beat this camera, especially for the price. Buy.com shipped it out immediately, just in time for the holidays. The pictures it takes are amazing... the Digic III works really well in low light.

5 of 5 Very nice camera Friday, November 30, 2007
A Customer from Great Mills, MD
I wanted a good camera that could fit easily in my pocket. This one fills the bill. Great pictures. Great ability to scan thru my photos on the camera. It's got all the features I wanted: face recognition, stabilization, night shot, video.

5 of 5 great little camera Thursday, November 29, 2007
    A Customer from Kingsland, GA
I wanted something to fit in my pocket or purse. This camera is so easy to use, with fun features and so small. I'm thrilled with the camera and would definataly recommend others to get it of one of the other Canon Powershot SDs. I bought this one after talking to my brother who has a Canon Powershot from years ago that is still working great.

This camera was purchased to replace an older that had just quick working. After a few minutes of getting acclimated to it, this is a great little camera. Great looking pictures and easy to use.

5 of 5 the best for me Tuesday, November 27, 2007
    Kasper from West Fargo, ND
Last year I bought a Casio Exilim because it was a few $ cheaper and was very disappointed with the picture quality... Didn't matter, until I had a cute baby. Replaced it with this camera and I couldn't be happier. If you need a good point-n-shoot that'll fit in a pocket or purse, this IS the one. Pros: Tiny, easy to use, quick boot, low shutter lag, automatically detects orientation of camera, all-around performer. Cons: Washes out the low-light indoor shots. The Auto-Focus assist light/red eye reducer light is VERY bright from close range, which is where I take a lot of baby pictures. However, it can be turned off, at the expense of focus speed and having to correct red-eye afterwards (which can be done on camera or computer)

    5 of 5 Great Camera Tuesday, September 25, 2007
    A Customer from Hayward, CA
Everything works great with the camera. No Problems, so far in a month. Only con I can see is I can't tell if the battery is low or maybe I could, but can seem to find out how. On the other hand, I've had it for a month, shot over 100 pics and the battery is still doing fine.

4 of 5 Great Little Guy Saturday, August 11, 2007
    A Customer from Teaneck, NJ
I bought this camera to take on vacation for those times when I didn't want to lug my older Canon Powershot. It fits beautifully in my handbag and takes great pictures. Has more bells and whistles than I'll ever use. Overall satisfaction would have been a 5 if it came with a SD card that let you shoot out of the box. As inexpensive as these cards are today, there should have been at least a 1G included, not that 32Mg!

5 of 5 Canon SD 1000 Digital Camera is just right! Tuesday, August 07, 2007
    John Gonsalves from Edison, NJ
I bought this Digital Camera based upon my friends' recommendation before our Summer Retreat. While we are a Canon family, we used only the A Series with Compact Flash and was a little apprehensive of the the SD Card. We found that the camera is very easy to use and very intuitive with a nice, large screen; yet NOT expensive. Great value for the investment for a non-professional user!! I loved it so much that I immediately bought another Canon SD1000 for my brother as a GIFT... and I am waiting to hear their experience. We just returned from a Mediterranean Cruise this summer. We had a 2GB Mini SD Card. We took 850+ beautiful pictures in Spain and Southern Italy... 850+ quality memories that we view a LOT. We love our SD1000!!

5 of 5 Great Compact Digital Camera Tuesday, August 07, 2007
    Allan Longendyke from Kingston, NY
The Canon SD1000 Digital Camera is loaded with terrific features. I highly recommend this camera for every day use. One of the options I like best is the choice of several resolutions. There are many other options to numerous to mention here. Another feature is the ability to add audio notes (up to 1 minute) for still photos. What I did not like was it does not come with a case, and it only has a 32MB memory card included. The case is a fairly inexpensive item that can be purchased separately. A larger memory card can also be purchased separately.

4 of 5 one cheap shot Wednesday, July 25, 2007
A Customer from Oro Valley AZ
Bought this camera for a cruise. Wanted something compact that was easy to carry. The SD1000 borders on tiny. But that had some features. This guy was both. Has way more features than I will ever need. I'm auto, close up, panorama, and mpeg friendly. Tried the stitch which worked great as well. Not an editor though. Decent software came with it. Scored it three 5's and a 4. Overall satisfaction was a 4. Why? It came with a 32mb SD card! Essentially worthless for a 7.1m camera. The instructions have an disclamimer that some features may not work with the supplied card. As in none will work save 8 jpgs at the native resolution. With SD cards so cheap, a 1G card should have been in the box. A crown of thorns to Canon for this cheap shot. Pardon the pun. So if you get this dandy little guy, order a 1 or 2G SD card too! You will need it.

    5 of 5 Great Camera! Wednesday, July 11, 2007
    Kevin from Des Moines, IA
Overall this is a great camera. As with many cameras I've owned there are several cool features that I'll probably never use. I like that this model has the viewfinder in addition to the LCD screen, not all the Canon SD models have a viewfinder. I was specifically looking for a small camera for "snapshots" to supplement our high-end cameras; one that I could easily carry around. I have not mastered all the settings yet, but I've noticed that sometimes the colors seem almost too vibrant. I've also had some issues with fuzzy pictures, there is no image stabilization on this model (hence the great price?). For the features I was looking for this camera is a "5" all around.

5 of 5 JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR Wednesday, June 27, 2007
    Stevetradup69 from Weslaco, TX
This camera replaced my Olympus FE-230. Although the FE-230 was slimmer, it did not have the burst feature and would not take a quality shot in church light. GO FIGURE. The SD-1000 has the easiest programing features I've found on a pocket camera. The setup speed and shutter speed is superior to Olypus, Fuji and Kodak. The anti-shake and full auto works every time. Scrolling thru the menus is the best I've encountered. I normally don't keep a camera more than 6 months before selling it and upgrading. I may decide to keep this one for a while. I am an Ebay seller and low priced pocket cameras are a good portion of my trade.

5 of 5 One of the better mini-cameras available Tuesday, June 26, 2007
    Tony Daughtry from Lawrenceville, GA
I bought this for my wife. Her other camera is a 5.0MP Casio. The Casio (and many other cameras) are plagued with the problem of shooting indoor photos in large auditoriums, gyms etc. You cannot use the flash, because the aperture and shutter speed are preset for close-in shots (generally less than 10ft max). Most shots will turn out grainy and dim with the flash. With the flash off, the shots are shaky because of the long shutter speeds (typically around 0.5 to 2.0sec). This is even made worse when the user tries to ZOOM in for better view, the pictures are generally unuseable. Here is where the Canon SD-1000 comes in, with the Hi-ISO, you can get much better pictures in the same environments. I compared them with and without the flash, and in each case ZOOM in or out, the pictures were 100% better than the Casio. However, the grain is worse at the higher ISO, but at least the picture is printable (not so with the Casio). This is the only reason I bought the camera is for these indoor shots with or without the flash. I wish that the professional digital camera reviewers would pay more attention to this scenario of large auditorium settings (zoom set at max). Many cameras fail in this regard. The SD1000 is not perfect, but is great improvement!

    4 of 5 Nice Camera Thursday, June 21, 2007
    A Customer from Chicago, il
I have the earlier version of this camera(4.5) and overall am very happy with it so I purchased this model. It’s not a professional model, but if you want to have a camera handy to get pics of family and friends; it’s a good choice. The photos are good, they look great on computer screen (try displaying them on a HD TV- you will be blown away), and easily blow up to 8x10. The camera is fairly easy to use and the controls are well laid out. The size is great, it easily fits into a pocket - you hardly know its there. Battery life is fine and the charger is pretty small and handy. The zoom is adequate at best. As with all cameras, once you enter the digital zoom (as opposed to optical) the photo quality drops dramatically. The only downside is red-eye. Even with the reduction, you still tend to see it in some photos, (I think this is a standing issue with camera of this size). Tip: the 32 SD card that comes with the unit is much too small, get 1 or 2 GB SD card (I have Sandisk), its only 20.00 or 30.00 bucks more and it's well worth it. Pick up a small nylon camera case to keep everything together(got mine at Walmart of 5.00).

5 of 5 One Terrific Compact Camera Sunday, June 17, 2007
Oscarwild from West Hurley, New York
I only have this camera for a week or so and have taken about 2 dozen or so pictures experimenting with some of the features. As of now it's the camera I will take with me on a trip,it will fit nicely in any pocket, and it only weigh about 4 oz or so. It's a very high quality, ease of use and loaded with features like my other Canon A95. I especially like the one button push to invoke the ISO 800 featue. It will take some time to test and use the many other features on this camera.

    5 of 5 canon sd1000 Friday, June 08, 2007
    A Customer from Phildaelphia, PA
In the past i've owned a canon SD400, 500, 600, 630, and rebel xti. The sd1000 is a good value for what you get. Only thing i don't like about the canon sd series is that the optical/digital zoom isn't that great but for the price, it's a good deal. Especially now that sd1000 is 7.1 mp. The sd1000 has more of a box look compared to other cameras in the sd series but still nice, with a large lcd screen. overall good camera.

5 of 5 Decent Quality, nice small form factor Friday, June 08, 2007
    Tom D. from Annapolis, MD
The camera's settings are easy to navigate. The quality is good. For a small camera it has a large, bright LCD screen. It's a good buy for anyone wanting acceptable quality in a small, lightweight camera. Leave the big pro camera behind when all you want are your typical vacation type shots. This will do the trick.

5 of 5 Great Camera for Great price Thursday, May 31, 2007
    A Customer from Plymouth, MI
I bought this camera from buy.com and with general shipping it still arrived at my house only 2 days later! I'll say this is an awesome camera. First of all while being very compact the buttons are still organized in an easy, convenient way. It takes very clean, vibrant pictures. And it's simple controls make operation possible without even having to read through the manual first. I'm very happy with my purchase.

This little camera packs a big punch. I had previously owned a Canon A75, and needed something newer. The image stabilization feature is great, and the zoom works well. The camera is so compact it fits in a pocket. I think it's a great buy, and I am extremely happy with it. Right after receiving it I took it on vacation, and I have been more than satisfied with the performance.

This is the second digital I have owned and this camera is by far the easiest to use, very fast, small and easy to carry. It has many options that I find very useful. I think it will allow me to take some photos that I would have otherwise missed with a larger, slower camera. I highly recomend it.

5 of 5 Great point and shoot Saturday, May 26, 2007
    A Customer from Lexington, KY
This is a great point and shoot camera. It is lacking a bit on the features side. There are a few standard configurations and there is very little to fiddle with. But, that being said, this is the perfect point and shoot. The preset settings are great and the picture quality is amazing. I have an olympus 10 MP camera and can honestly say that the picture quality on the canon is much better.
