PowerShot Pro1 is not only the flagship of the PowerShot line, but a decisive leader in the compact digital camera class. The camera has an extraordinary 8 Megapixels of imaging power, a superb Canon L-series 7x zoom lens, and a host of professional-level capabilities. Yet with all its advanced technology, the Pro1 retains the ease of use that PowerShot cameras are famous for.

Features
Debut Camera in an Innovative Line - PowerShot Pro1 gives you the creative performance of a high-end SLR camera with the digital capability and ease of use inherent to the PowerShot line. The camera's 8 Megapixel CCD captures life to the extent that even prints of 8" x 10" or larger are highly detailed and gorgeously colored.
The Most Powerful, Advanced Lens in the PowerShot Line - The PowerShot Pro1 incorporates Canon's top-of-the-line lens, the L Lens, legendary among professional photographers. Driven by an Ultrasonic Motor, the super-fast 28-200mm (35mm equivalent) f/2.4-3.5 lens uses fluorite and UD (Ultra-low dispersion) glass for clear, sharp image delineation with an absolute minimum in chromatic aberration. Also incorporated is an Aspherical lens, precision-manufactured to within 0.1 microns, which corrects spherical aberrations and curvilinear distortion while keeping the zoom lens compact.
An Extensive Array of Shooting Modes Covers Every Situation - PowerShot Pro1 offers shooting modes (see below) for every situation and level of photographic experience. Photo Effects in Vivid Color, Neutral Color, Low Sharpening, Sepia, Black & White and Custom are also available, boosting the artistry of your shots instantly.
Three light-metering modes deliver precise exposure: evaluative metering, center-weighted average metering and spot metering, which lets you measure exposure at the chosen AF point or the center of the frame for an exceptional level of control. And the camera's innovative FlexiZone AF/AE system lets you move the AF point around the frame to focus on off-center subjects without reframing the shot, and connects the AF point to the exposure system when the camera is in spot metering mode.
Advanced Imaging Technology Improves Every Photo - Canon's exclusive DIGIC Image Processor revolutionizes how you shoot digital by allowing the camera to process images faster and improving the accuracy of the autofocus. DIGIC also reduces the effects on noise in your images.
iSAPS Technology - iSAPS Technology is an entirely new scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance.
Incredible Up-close Shots - The PowerShot Pro1 features a standard macro function that allows you to shoot clearly at just 4" from your subject. It also incorporates a new Super Macro Mode that takes you in even closer. Position your subject as little as 1/2" from the tip of the lens and capture a full 8 megapixels of astonishingly close detail.
Bigger, Sharper Vari-angle LCD Monitor - Catch a shot at any angle! This camera features a swiveling 2.0-inch Vari-angle LCD monitor with 235,000 pixels, the highest resolution in its class.
Shoot High-Quality Movie with Sound
VGA Movies - High-quality movie clips with audio capture all the action. The PowerShot Pro1 offers several resolution choices: high-resolution VGA (up to 30 sec.), or long-play QVGA and QQVGA (up to 3 minutes). Delete unwanted scenes during playback.
Direct Photo Printers - For desktop large-format printing, try one of the Direct Photo Printers which allow you to print directly in one of two ways: plug the compatible PowerShot camera into the Direct Photo Printer using the supplied cable, or simply insert a memory card with supplied adapter. You can also connect the printer to your computer for more options. Print high resolution borderless images in post card size or 8.5"x 11" size within minutes.
Compact Photo Printers - Compact Photo Printers let you produce versatile fun credit card size, post card size or wide size prints in just three easy steps: connect, press and print. Control the printer right from your camera's LCD monitor. Prints dye-sublimated credit card size, post card size or wide size – fast. Bordered and borderless options are available. Available paper types let you create mini or credit card size labels. You can even take the CP-330 printer to a party or an outdoor picnic using its included battery.

5 of 5 The One to get! Thursday, August 18, 2005
tobyli from Daly City, CA

When I first decided to get a new digital camera, I looked at many different ones, (Sony, Minolta, Kodak, Pentax, ...etc.) but always found myself coming back to Cannon. I chose the Powershot Pro 1 because I believe it is a great camera to have to begin my transition into full digital SLRs,(ie. Cannon EOS). It have the features of a SLR yet the ease of a Point-and-Shoot camera. This has broaden my options for shooting in all situations; low light to bright sunny days. I do strongly suggest getting a memory card of 512 MB or more because you never want to run out of memory while taking pictures. Also, get a lens cap leash. This will keep the lens cap near and so you won't lose it. I highly recomend the Powershot Pro 1.

5 of 5 Canon PowerShot Pro1 Rocks! Tuesday, June 01, 2004
A Customer from Las Vegas, NV
I first was hesitant about getting a larger digital camera and went to look at the PowerShot S410. But when these two are compared side by side the PowerShot Pro1 blows it away. Imagine what 8MP resolution gives you. I have some incredible shots of our vacation in Mexico last month. The PowerShot Pro1 is so easy to use. It is a remarkable camera. If you are shopping for a digital camera I recommend the Powershot Pro1.

5 of 5 I love my PowerShot Pro1 Monday, May 17, 2004
A Customer from FL
The PowerShot Pro1 is a camera designed to be familiar to current Canon owners, easy enough to use for first time buyers and yet still provide a semiprofessional feel and feature set. Canon has borrowed from its professional lens line to put an L quality label on the lens system to indicate that this is a new lens and it has been designed to fulfill the high resolution requirements of an eight megapixel CCD. In use the Canon felt slightly slower than I was expecting, certainly not much faster than the G5 and I didn't see any marked improvement in speed overall from that camera. Overall image quality was good, that L lens proving it can deliver the resolution and that Canon's reliable DiGiC image processor can turn out a quality image with good tonal and color balance and no noticeable artifacts. http://www.powershotpro1.com

5 of 5 Truly Amazing! Friday, May 14, 2004
A Customer from Memphis, TN
I was amazed when I first took pictures with my Canon PowerShot Pro 1. It was incredible. I was taking pictures and having people looking over my shoulder asking for copies. I also had some ask about my Powershot Pro1 and were they could get it. It is so easy to use and don't let the 8MP fool you and think it is for professionals. It is not. Homerun Canon! The only thing I recommend is that you get at least a 512MB CF card when you buy this. The 64MB it comes with fills up fast. Also check out the line of the photo printers, I am going to get the CP-200 so I can print on the fly.
