 | Canon Powershot A650 IS - Digital Camera Review DigitalCameraReview.com Published on: 10/2/2007 3:07 PM | | Canon's newly-introduced Powershot A650 IS becomes their self-described "new top-of-the line" A-series camera offering, and anyone who follows Canon knows they view the A-series as providing a lot of performance at a value price. For someone who wants/needs to shoot at 12+ MP with a camera by Canon, there are only five choices in the current lineup: 1Ds-Mk. III, 5D, G9, SD950 IS or the A650 IS. Opt for any of the Canons other than the A650 IS and you can expect to pay anywhere from $90 to $7,635 more for the privilege. The value part of the equation is looking pretty good so far....read the full review | |

5 of 5 excellent camera for the price Thursday, May 08, 2008 acecon18@yahoo.com from clearfield, utah
this is by far the best camera i've ever used/owned. the picture quality is phenomenal! if there were any downfalls to this camera, i guess it would be that the video it takes is not of the greatest quality. but if you're purchasing a photo camera for it's video capturing abilities, well, then you just may need to have someone hit you over the head with a tack hammer. perfect beginner camera for someone into photography as well. it does come with a sd card, but i recommend picking a 2 gb or better because once you start clicking the button, it will be a while until you stop. easy to use, even right out of the box. if you're already digital camera saavy, you may not even need to read the instruction manual. i, on the other hand, am not, but the instruction manual was simple to follow and i was able to find what i wanted to do with ease. best of luck! 5 of 5 My ideal camera! Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Kelly k. from Bellevue, WA
At first i was going to get an A640, but after i found out this one had image stabilization and more megapixels and comparitively better image quality, i was sold. best part was it was only 350$, i was expecting to pay 400-450.. So it was nice that i stayed semi low and yet still got a pro-sumer camera.. Its definately not a DSLR, but its more than adequet for the casual family picture taker and has enough controll for the amateur enthusiast who doesnt want to get into DSLRS yet.. I love this camera! Great quality, good speed, Uses AA batteries, now if they can just get CHDK on it!

5 of 5 Nice even for average user Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Nancy from Strasburg, OH
So far, I love this camera. I upgraded from an older Kodak. I'm just a mom wanting pics of the kids so this review will be far from technical. I love the fact that the screen can be turned so I can take pics over my head at sporting events. Also, it protects the screen that you can turn it over. The pics look geat and I love the kids and pet setting. My child is two and doesn't sit still, so this setting keps me fom getting blurred pics. Also, it is very quick to turn on and start shooting. With my older camera I was constantly missing shots because the kids have moved by the time the camera was ready. Overall, love the camera so far. Only drawback so far is the software to store and edit etc. I find the easyshare software from kodak more user friendly. Was this review helpful?
