5 of 5 Great buy Friday, June 08, 2007
Nicole from CO
I'm very happy with this purchase. The camera is high quality, and easy to use. The auto setting works well for most situations, and there are lots of other fun settings to play with. It also takes video (with audio). The display screen is nice and big and flips the image sideways when you tilt the camera, which is exciting. Batteries do pretty well, but don't last a terribly long time. Rechargeable batteries and charger may be a good investment.

4 of 5 Great Camera Friday, April 20, 2007
A Customer from Baker Florida
Great Camera the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I wish the zoom was a little stronger. I like to take pictures of butterflies and birds and they don't like me to get close. Other than that this is a great camera so maybe I'll buy the adapter lens.

5 of 5 Great Camera Great Price Wednesday, March 28, 2007
Michael from DeLand, FL
The newspaper I work for just purchased several A640s for its field reporters based on several great reviews. I couldn't afford one for personal use so I chose the A540. For home use it is awesome. The manual mode allows for great in-camera control and the automatic mode makes it great for quick snaps. Plus I feel safer not having the flip-out display.

5 of 5 Fantastic! Monday, March 05, 2007
Josh from Ithaca, NY
This camera is perfect for both amateurs and camera experts. The camera combines many great manual settings along with an AMAZING auto setting. Unlike my last few cameras I've had, the A540's pictures come out clear, never blurry. The color saturation is perfect and night shots are well exposed (thanks to the ability to change ISO settings and the clarity at higher ISOs). What makes this camera perfect is the price. Other cameras that have the same features cost twice as much and Buy.com has the lowest price I've seen. The only thing I suggest getting is an SD card (at least 512mb) and a camera bag.

5 of 5 Great budget camera! Wednesday, February 28, 2007
rexb from Fremont, CA
I've already bought 2 of this Canon A540 as a gift to my parents and in-laws, because i know for sure they'll definitely like it for ease of use, value and picture quality. At less than $200 this is a great value (saw this at deals2buy.net for $179 incl tax here at Buy.com), also got 1GB SD memory for basically free with the full rebate on the sale amount. With 6MP and 4X zoom it's more than enough for daily point and shoot pictures to capture memories. I also liked the big LCD screen, nice and compact body that is easy to hold and it's not to big to carry around. To me as long as i can take pictures and have them printed on at least 4x6 size pictures clearly is enough, which a 3.2MP is capable of, so with 6MP this should be more than enough. I also liked the video capability where you can shoot movie clips which is also helpful when you want to capture moments on the move. Pictures are clear and crisp especially on outdoors, i just leave the setting to Auto and i even seldom use manual/program modes either. My only mini gripe is with this model it takes longer time for the pictures to save and ready for your next picture. I guess it something to do with the bigger SD card or could be fixed if you get a faster SD type. To those looking for a very good photo quality without breaking the bank, you'll never go wrong with this camera.

5 of 5 Overall great camera! Friday, February 02, 2007
Johnny from Little Rock, AR
I bought this camera about a month ago and like it very much. It takes great pics even in low light. The cycle time between photos with the flash on takes about 3 seconds, a little long, but it's manageable. I don't usually need to shoot several shots rapidly in succession. The large screen is great. And since I switched from a Sony, there are some things that have required getting used to - like not having a one-touch button to review a photo you just took (you can do it, it's just not as easy). Overall, the camera is easy to operate, takes good photos, and I'm very happy with the purchase.

5 of 5 great camera Sunday, January 28, 2007
A Customer from Sun City, AZ
This is my 3rd digital camera and, by far, the best. Since I post most of my pictures online, I find the 6 megapixels is more that enough. The best feature is the 4-optical zoom. Both the 'functions' and 'menu' items are easy to understand. The booklets provided are very easy to read/use. Do buy high capacity batteries & charger. Price of under $200 is great.

4 of 5 Awesome purchase Monday, January 08, 2007
wtbj from La Plata, Maryland
I was a little worried about the purchase because it's sometimes difficult to buy electronics with so many brands and models available. But the reviews were great on the Canon product and I was very happy with the unit I received. Although, the sharpness of the picture through the LCD (of the A540) made me a little nervous, the resulting image was next to perfect. It is rich in features including the ability to capture video, store images on SD card, and a self-timer so that the whole family can get in pictures for a quick snap-n-print operation (whether you connect to printer or download to computer). It is a little particular about the SD card used. The Canon branded card worked fine but two other 1GB non-Canon brands cards did not.

5 of 5 Easy to use and small Wednesday, December 20, 2006
A Customer from Oswego, IL
Great little camera. Nice zoom and good pics. Needs a larger SD card (16 MB comes with, only get max of 74 pics, and only 12 for high resolution); I bot a 1GB (max over 3k, and 750 for high resolution) for $16 at buy.com.

5 of 5 Outstanding camera and value! Wednesday, December 13, 2006
Brian E. from Norristown, PA
I have an "ultra-zoom" (12x optical) camera. It's size/shape makes it anything but "compact". Was looking for a second camera to be able to carry in a pocket. Did a fair amount of research before selecting this camera. Was amazed at all the advanced features on such a small camera and the fairly inexpensive price. Takes great pictures on full Auto mode, have also used some of the advanced features to test them out and they work great as well. One thing I definitely wanted was a camera that used the same SD media as my other one so I could share cards between them. Like the flexibility to add different lenses, though I'll probably never buy one. Heck, you can even buy a waterproof case if you want to take pictures underwater! Pretty neat, if unlikely to be useful to most buyers. One note about Buy.com, in addition to a low price delivery was very quick (I'm lucky enough to have many shipments come from a warehouse just 2+ hours away!).

5 of 5 Great camera! Tuesday, November 21, 2006
Debbie from Brush, Colorado
Bought this camera not really knowing what I wanted in a digital camera. Was very suprised and happy to discover the ease and quality of this camera. My son used my camera at Seaworld last week and we were thrilled at the quality of digital videos. The only problem I encountered was having to buy bigger memory card.

5 of 5 Best Bang for your Buck Monday, November 06, 2006
E. Bowie from Plano, TX
We've only had it for a few days, but this camera is wonderful and very intuitive. For the more advanced functions of course you'll need to peer into the book, but we picked it up pointed and shot our way to some very nice pics basically right out of the box. The detail that we've seen in our prints were very nice too (maybe a little scary.) We're still learning how to make it work, but off the top I'm very impressed. Especially for the price.

5 of 5 The best in my research for a digital camera! Friday, October 20, 2006
A Customer from Eau Claire, WI
This product is a great value buy. The learning curve is medium, but with studying the manual you should have very little trouble. You can always just simply use the Auto feature with excellent results. This Camera has the option to change lens. The features that I like is the small size, but yet large enough for me to get my hands around this instrument and still fit in my pocket. Very versatile and uses regular AA batteries. The only down side for me is the small icons that are somewhat difficult to see at times.

5 of 5 What are you waiting for? Friday, October 20, 2006
KH from Gainesville, FL
I needed a camera with more megapixels because I increase photos of my projects to 24x36 and sometimes larger and the resolution on 2mp was not good. With the 6 mp of this camera it is great and I find this camera easy to use. The person who wrote about the 4 user manuals must not have noticed that 2 of them are for the Spanish speaking population. The other 2 are 1 quick search (basics) manual and 1 (adv) manual with every possible adjustment you can make and different conditions. I find it easy enough to use. I love it! Buy.com shipped it promptly and I received it in excellent condition
