5 of 5 Great Digital Camera Thursday, February 02, 2006
FLR from Everett, WA

Great Camera! First Digital for our family, meets our needs really well. I've used mostly the AUTO mode mostly due to my lack of photography skills. I should really read the manual, but didn't need to to start using the camera. Provides great images and more than decent video footage. Just wish the video capture was more than 3 mins.

I purchased this camera for my brother-in-law in India. He is absolutely thrilled with this gift and uses the camera all the time, actually "never leaves home without it". The performance and results are excellent and he is highly satisfied.

5 of 5 Great value for the price Friday, July 08, 2005
A Customer from Boston, MA
Got this camera couple of months ago. So far, I am loving it. My friend got the SD400 model for above $300, and I don't see a significant difference except the SD400 is smaller and has more memory. The look and size of A510 is great for taking it on any of the trips or night outs. It's easy to use. The quality is good. The only downside is that the night pictures are often fuzzy. I need to hold it super-still to take the night photos. But, I heard this is common among all the Canon cameras. The battery run out pretty quickly too. So, I will recommend to get a charger for the batteries. Another must is a large memory card. But overall, this is a great camera for the casual photo takers.

5 of 5 A Gem of a Camera Friday, July 08, 2005
A Customer from Minoa, NY
I have a Fuji 2650 2 megapixel digital camera which takes great photos, but the LCD is a little dark. I then purchased the Fuji s3100 thinking it would perform as well as the 2650. WRONG!! Camera shake, dark pictures, etc etc. I then found the Canon a510 and read the great reviews, purchased it, and it is great! Great pictures, easy to use and works great with my Canon Pixma photo printer. I recommend this little gem for the average photographer that wants great pictures, compact size and ease of use. Get it now!!

5 of 5 Great camera for the price Tuesday, June 14, 2005
A Customer from Farmington, MI
I wanted to upgrade from the 1.0 megapixel digital that I've had forever, so when shopping around I came across this camera. It had the megapixels I was looking for, and was in my price range. I have used it to take pictures at several different types of settings, both indoor and outdoor, and both action and still shots, and I have not been disappointed. The pictures are clear and the detail is excellent, and the preset dial settings on the camera have been sufficient for all the pictures I have taken thus far. I have not had the opportunity to print any pictures yet, but if this camera's performance so far is any indication, I'm sure the prints will come out fine. It's a great buy that I highly recommend!

5 of 5 Great Little Camera Tuesday, May 24, 2005
A Customer from Plano, TX
The best thing about this camera is that it takes a very clear picture with excellent color rendition, and that is just what I wanted. I had a Sony W5, which cost about twice as much, and could not get a clear picture, so I especially find this camera excellent. A tip: Set it to the P setting then..turn OFF AiAf and use center point focus...Metering-evaluative...ISO 100...Exposure Compensation -1/3...Picture Effect-Vivid...Auto Focus assist lamp ON...Red Eye Reduction OFF...White Balance AUTO...Digital Zoom OFF. You will get the most amazing pics ever. I found these settings somewhere online and they are excellent. The only minor complaint I have is that there is one dead pixel on the LCD screen, which Canon explains in the Users Guide as normal, and it does not effect the pictures at all.

5 of 5 Really wonderful camera!! Sunday, May 08, 2005
Singu from Oklahoma city,OK
This is my first digital camera and i have been looking out for buying one under $200 with pretty decent features.I finally landed with this one. I prefer this to Canon A75 becos it uses only 2AA batteries compared to 4AA in A75. The image quality is simply superb and for newbies this camera is the best bet for the dollars u shell out. The 4X optical zoom is really good.I would recommend to buy Rechargeable NiMH batteries as u would be spending a lot on Alkalines. With a 256 MB card i am able to store nearly 200 images. The video quality is also excellent at the least resolution setting. Overall, I would give it a 5/5.

5 of 5 Best in its price range, highly recommended Monday, April 18, 2005
Dave M, ne_tirez_pas from Seattle, WA, USA
Why I purchased: I was interested in the excellent Canon A75, but this one is even better, feels solid in the hand, most features for the money. Pros: best in price class I've seen, 4x optical zoom, in camera movie editing, movies with sound, many scene modes, scuba diving case available, extra lens attachments available, uses standard SD memory cards. Cons: none, compared with similarly priced competitors Recommendations: Get at least one extra memory card, buy a NiMH AA rechargeable battery charger rather than using disposable alkaline batteries. I bought the excellent Sony BCG-34HD4 with flip down plug, overcharge sensor and worldwide voltage (110-240V) buy.com part # 90136693.

5 of 5 Get lots of BANG for your buck !! Thursday, March 31, 2005
P. Gonet from Tallassee, AL
After doing a ton of research I finally decided on this model and I don't think I will regret it. I love the fact that I can exercise my creativity with all the manual settings or just 'point and click' on auto if I don't want to do anything fancy. So far I have taken several test shots and I am truly pleased with the results. The color saturation is good, the images are sharp, the manual is easy to read and follow and the controls are well shaped/spaced, even for a male with good sized hands. The camera is small and easy to pocket or can be carried with extra batteries and memory card in a small camera bag not much bigger than some cell phones. One of my favorite features is the 'stitch' mode which allows you to create panorama shots by attaching several pics end to end. I have found that the software does a great job of creating these and they really can add some 'zing' to an album page as you lay a 360 degree view across the top of it. I also like the option to auto-rotate the pics for review. I am really pleased with this camera and look forward to using it on an upcoming trip to Greece/Italy/France next week. By the way, I would also highly recommend using NiMH batteries to cut down on the amount of $$ spent on Alkalines. You should also pop for a bigger memory card (512 is a good size) as this camera will definitely encourage you to take pictures. By far one of the best things about digital pics is that you can take a TON of them and then sort them out later. This allows you to shoot lots of bracketed exposures, effects etc. without worrying about the cost of making prints later. Overall, this is a super little camera with good optics and lots of bells and whistles.

5 of 5 Great Little Camera, Canon Power Shot A510 Thursday, March 24, 2005
Frank from Montgomery, Alabama
I bought this for my wife so she could have one small enough to carry in her purse but I think I'll either keep it for myself or buy a second one. I set it on "auto" for her to use and manual settings for me so that I can set the F/stops and shutter speed. You can also adjust the "iso". I threw out the 16mg card that came with it and bought a 512mg SD card to replace it so now it can hold 300 pics set at the highest mg/pixels. Also bought some rechargable 2500mAh batteries which lasts much longer than the normal 800mAh batteries. Look at other reviews at other sites. All comments are positive. And the price is great for amount of features you get with this camera.
