The ultra-versatile PIXMA MP830 Office All-In-One delivers spectacular performance for the home and small office. It produces an amazing print resolution of up to 9600 x 2400 color dpi, for superb detail and clarity. To achieve this, Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a next-generation 3,584-nozzle print head that ejects precise, consistent droplets as small as 1 picoliter, for smooth, virtually grain-free images. Our ContrastPLUS 5-color ink system- four dye based inks and a pigment-based black ink- produces true-life photos along with laser-quality text. Plus, a 4" x 6" photo lab quality borderless print takes only about 36 seconds.

With the large 2.5" LCD color viewer and easy control panel, you can evaluate and enhance images from your compatible memory card before printing! Or, you can print directly from your PictBridge ready digital camera or DV camcorder. With direct printing, you don't need a computer.

This high-end office All-In-One does it all. The auto duplex Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) can read both sides of a 2 sided document, letting you copy or scan a 2 sided original without having to flip it over by hand! The ADF can hold 35 pages of originals at one time, making it much easier to copy, scan or fax multi-page documents. And when combined with the unit's dual paper trays, the ADF gives you the capability for high-capacity copying, even of 2-sided originals. The AE (Auto Exposure) Copy feature automatically optimizes reproduction quality based on the type of original you're duplicating. When scanning, the unit's high-resolution CCD technology enables you to produce exceptional 2400-dpi scans, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. And now, faxing: With the PIXMA MP830 Office All-In-One, you can achieve up to Super G3 fax speed in color and B&W. Plus, the expanded memory lets you store 100 speed dial codes, and receive up to 250 incoming pages.

3 of 5 A little more technology than I needed Wednesday, October 01, 2008
A Customer from Emerson, NJ

I wanted a copier/fax and the reviews and price of this Canon seemed to fit what I wanted. However, it comes with a 217 page manual! After two hours I discovered this manual covers features that I do not plan to use (heavy on photo printing). I also had problems hooking up the fax option (took hours and call to my telephone provider). Overall, the machine delivers copies, scans, and prints from my PC to my satisfaction.

5 of 5 An Excellent Product Tuesday, September 30, 2008
A Customer from Roswell, New Mexico
Price couldn't be beat, delivery was quick, and product is excellent. The printer was easy to set up and simple to use. Picture quality is the best I've seen and speed of printing is quick.

5 of 5 Duplex Scanning Monday, September 29, 2008
A Customer from Wayne, NJ
I bought this to replace a HP all in one. The print speed and quality are excellent but my main reason for buying was the duplex scanner. I had considered buying a stand alone scanner but for the price I figured this was worth a try. So far I am very satisfied. Scanning speed is good and two-sided scanning works well.

5 of 5 BEST ALL-IN-ONE I'VE HAD Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Doug from Oxford, OH
This printer does what you want when you want, and is inexpensive to operate. It has a replaceable print head which is nice- when you think your printer is dead, you can replace the head and it's like new. It does double sided copies and faxes with document feeder or scanner platen. It has a bottom loading paper cartridge and a rear feed (with a quick, easy switch)so you can keep checks in one and plain paper in the other. The quality is very good for what I do, photos could be a little better if I messed around with the settings. I have burned through several HP's and Epsons and I like this one best. I have 2 home printers and 6 business printers and I now have 4 MP830's (where all-in-ones are needed)and the rest will be replaced with Canons that take the same ink cartridge but don't need the other functions. My observations of two big brands: -HP: Very reliable, but expensive ink. Ink cartridges each essentially have a built in print head. Every time you change a cartridge you get fresh, new-printer quality. BUT, at a cost, the cartridges are very expensive, and many of their models combine all 3 colors of ink into one cartridge, which adds even more cost - here's how: I do landscape designs which take large amounts of yellow and cyan ink (lots of green graphics). When one of those colors runs out, I have to throw away the whole cartridge which is usually still nearly full of magenta. The Canon has 5 (FIVE) ink tanks: 3 colors, a black for graphics and a hi-capacity black for text. I only pay for the ink that I use. Epson: Fast, inexpensive printers and ink, individual color tanks. BUT: print head is built in to the printer, and it doesn't last long. I consider Epsons to be disposable. They also bug me because you can hit the cancel button to stop printing, and they just keep going, sometimes 3-4 more pages. If you stop it in control panel or turn off the printer, it will continue where it left off when you turn it back on, ANNOYING! Hopefully the MP830 stays on the market for a while because it is a really nice printer.

5 of 5 Great Price, Great Service Sunday, September 21, 2008
Frank from Port Huron, Michigan
Bought this multifunction two weeks ago and am very happy with the performance and the price. Upgraded from another Canon printer that has been an outstanding piece of equipment (love the seperate ink carts for economy). Was easy to set up on my XP machine and the print speed is fantastic. Scanner is easy to use and copy function is very handy for business and home use. Photo print quality is VERY nice even though I don't use it that much because of ink expense. Haven't had the need to use FAX yet but don't expect any problem if I do. Overall, I would say Buy This Machine! Product and delivery time (3 days from placing order until it was at my door) are Excellent. I have bought from Buy.Com before and will again. Customer service is top-notch and the price is right.

4 of 5 Works well... 1 problem Wednesday, September 17, 2008
ferrum.mihi from Sacramento, CA
The printer works very well.It prints clean, crisp images and produces similar quality images from scanning. The autofeed is grand, and for a non-commercial copier/scanner holds a good stack of paper and produces quality documents. The software that comes with it, as per usual, is in need of sprucing up and has a very windows 95 or windows 98 feel to it. The feature of sending an image directly to email has produced uselessly small images that auto attach to my email and I have not yet found the setting to change this. It is a superfluous feature considering you can just scan the image and then attach it yourself, but if you are looking for quality programming to come with the printer, you may not want to get your hopes up too high.

5 of 5 Great Printer for the Price Thursday, August 28, 2008
Derin from SLC UT
I have had Canon printers before and I have absolutely loved them. My last printer was a multi-pass F50 and was a great work horse. When deciding to upgrade, I looked at HP, Lexmark, and Canon. For home use and printing pictures this printer seemed to have just a little better resolution than the competition. The set up was easy, and I am very happy with it. I have a really nice camera to go along with it. I have the Canon Rebel XT. When printing pictures on this new printer you really get your money's worth. The pictures look just as good as if you took them to Walmart and had them printed. I would recommend this printer for anyone looking for a nice home use all in one printer wanting to do some occasional home printing of pictures. Thanks Canon for yet another great product!

5 of 5 Easy to use, deceptively inexpensive Saturday, July 26, 2008
Dave from Marietta, GA
The initial print cartridges did not seem to last long. But the replacements (OEM from Canon) lasted much longer. I was at first surprised because Consumer Reports magazine rates this as an "inexpensive to use" ink jet printer. The functionality is superb; faxes, scanner, copies, printing. The only fault I found was the constant iritatting warning of "low ink levels" - you really don't know when they will run out, and when they do the printer will just stop until you replace that ink cartridge.

5 of 5 Near perfect overall Thursday, May 22, 2008
Tim from Salt Lake City
Print quality is excellent. Output on photo paper is excellent--better than expected for a multi-function printer. Scanner works well off the platen and in ADF mode. Fax sending is easy and straightforward. Unit is supposed to cooperate with answering machines connected on the same phone line when receiving faxes, but I had difficulty getting it to work right. My only complaint is that the ink is expensive. The cartridges have little electronic chips designed to report the ink level. I've had one, purchased after the initial cartridges were used, that was faulty and had to be replaced (free of charge). Canon makes a big deal to tell you that your warranty can be void if you refill the cartridges. I will try refills after the warranty expires.

5 of 5 GREAT PRINTER! Monday, April 07, 2008
Susan from Elizabeth City, NC
My second Canon multipurpose machine. Easy to use, great output - no, it's not a laser, but for an inkjet, the printer quality is superior. Great deal for the money.

1 of 5 BEWARE: Mine Broke Within 50 Prints Monday, January 21, 2008
A Customer from New York, NY
Certainly your mileage may vary in terms of receiving a unit that fails, but I personally will never buy another Canon printer ever again. I used the printer sparingly over the course of a few months. One day, for no apparent reason, I got an error code 6A00 and it would not work. I had used the printer for less than 50 print pages. The unit simply failed on me. After a typically painful and extended conversation with a tech support representative, who was clearly not knowledgeable (he himself admitted to that!) and was simply reading off a flow chart, I ultimately ended up having to settle for a refurbished replacement. I'll be going with a different brand for my next printer for sure.

5 of 5 Awsome and easy to use Thursday, January 17, 2008
Mike from alpharetta, GA
I waited for at least 6 months to write this review. top notch in every category except it uses alittle too much unk but not as much as Epson printers. quite except for the first second when it pulls paper in from top feeder; much better if you use the bottom tray to feed paper. I hope this unit not leak ink as my friend and hope hers is a fluke or a damage caused by shipping or other ways.

4 of 5 Great product, but Mac users take note Friday, December 21, 2007
J.G. from St. Louis, MO
Overall, I am pleased with this product. The print quality is fantastic, copying and faxing are a breeze, and scanning is intuitive as well. I especially appreciate the duplexing capability! On the other hand, I'm a Mac user and bought this product to replace an HP that was connected to my Airport network. I am so irritated that this Canon cannot talk to my Airport! Also, one of the print cartridges I received with the machine was faulty, and when I researched this error I discovered that the problem is not uncommon. Canon's tech support was responsive and quick to send out a new part, but in the meantime I couldn't print for several days. So, I'm pleased with the quality, but there are definite drawbacks to the machine. Make sure you know what features are priorities for you before you buy.

5 of 5 Very nice printer Wednesday, December 05, 2007
Dennis from Yucca Valley, CA
I have had the printer for several months now and it has met or exceeded my expectations. The print quality on Pro Photo paper is awesome and the colors are very vibrant. We couldn't be happier with the quality of even the 8x10 pictures. The one and only 'con' was after the first page was printed I received an error message that the black cartridge could not be recognized. I played around but couldn't fix it and replacing it solved the problem and it has been smooth sailing since then. Buy.com is once again the most impressive vendor on the net. I have been using them for years now and they never cease to amaze me with their speed of delivery and the quality of their customer service. I buy all my products online through them first because of price and service.

4 of 5 Who needs professional photo processing? Tuesday, September 25, 2007
MRNot from Bowie, MD
Not really anything new to add that isn't in other reviews. The product setup was very easy. Unit functioned as advertised upon initial startup. The full-colour LCD is neat, but I didn't buy this item to look at it's menus in colour. Output on Canon AND third-party photo paper is absolutely stunning. If you're operating from a memory card at the printer console & your pictures are high-res, menu operation will likely be a bit slow. It's handy having a paper source toggle switch, but you have to remember it's there.. (hear the sound of me slapping myself everytime I don't). I haven't had it long enough to fully test out the scanner capabilities/quality. It does appear to be an ink hog, but I expected that from the outset. I've printed 3 or 4 borderless, letter-sized photos since two of the colours have reported low, but the image quality has not suffered. It's a good buy.

5 of 5 Just Keeps on Working Tuesday, September 25, 2007
rksumner from Browns Valley, CA
Replaced an HP7410 with the Canon. Truth is that I should have bought the Canon in the first place. Its copies are clearer and it works better than the HP did. Its fax works better too. The big mind blower was that I am able to copy while it sends faxes! - couldn't seem to get the HP to do that. Best part is that it keeps working too!

5 of 5 Canon does All In Ones Right! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
bobeld from Old Tappan NJ
We own this printer a little over a month. It does a fine job and the output is superb. Duplex printing saves paper and since many of the documents we copy are two sided, it also saves the time and trouble of running the paper through again and worrying if the 2nd side will be correctly oriented. On the down side, the printer takes a while to warm-up. The print speed appears to be much less than the advertised 29 pages black. We own and still use a previous generation Canon i860 which is not an all in one. Print speeds are the fastest I've ever seen using an inkjet so I was a bit disappointed the MP 830 was not nearly as fast. The MP 830 replaced a 3 year old Brother 3820CN which had already received one repair under a company "recall" and was no longer printing all 4 colors. Our recent Canon printers have never suffered banding or spotty output (unlike our Brother, HP, and Epson printers.) This one is no exception. Personally, I think Canon has the edge in inkjet printing technology.

4 of 5 Does the job Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from Delaware, OH
I haven't had the need to try all the features yet, but it certainly prints, copies, sends and receives faxes just fine. It seems like quite a good product for the price. The biggest issue with printers these days seems to be longevity, so we will see how long this one lasts.

5 of 5 Al's Toy Tuesday, September 25, 2007
Al from Jefferson City Missouri
Have used the Mp380 printer without any disappointments. I have not had an occasion to fax documents yet, but feel confident this beauty will respond as advertised. I truly enjoy the ease of printing photos and copying materials. Best of all was the price offered by Buy.com. I am totally overwhelmed by this purchase. Thanks to Canon and Bestbuy.

5 of 5 It has lived up to all of my expectations Monday, September 24, 2007
Mike P from San Rafael, CA
This has turned out to be an excellent product...every functional aspect (printing, scanning, faxing, copying) is very intuitive and easy to use. The sheet feeder works well, which is a feature that sets it apart from less expensive units...it's a real time saver. Paper can be loaded from 3 different sites, which also is a nice feature. Haven't been through a full cycle of ink cartridges yet, so can't comment on ink consumption at this point. The footprint is large and it is a little bulky, so plan on giving it some room. Overall, a wonderful product at a great price

5 of 5 Be prepared for very high ink bills Tuesday, September 04, 2007
Art Ulene from Los Angeles, CA
The 830 prints beautifully and photo quality is excellent, but at a VERY high ink price. This machine literally guzzles ink, and the new cartridges that this machine requires are VERY expensive compared to the MP780 the I owned previously. The machine is a bargain, but they more than make up for it with the ink you'll be forced to buy from them. I would not buy this model again--but only because of ink costs. (Read other reviews, and you will see the same complaint from several people who have owned the machine long enough to observe how quickly it uses up ink.)

4 of 5 Consumer Reports got it right Friday, August 10, 2007
A Customer from Washington DC
Recently purchased this printer and am happy with it. The setup/installation was simple. My only disappointment was that the usb cable needed for printing was not included. Although the system prints, faxes, scans, and photocopies, most probably purchase the machine for its print capability. The color or black-white printing feature is really neat too. I've not scanned or faxed with the unit yet. But I am overall happy to have a system that meets my basic needs to organize my home. It would be a luxury for students too.

5 of 5 What Quality!!! Tuesday, August 07, 2007
Vinny from Staten Island, NY
Having been a dedicated Xerox user (as well as retiree from the company) it was dificult for me to switch to a Canon product. I was happy with the Xerox, but the cost of the ink and it's incompatability with my computer forced me to purchased a new unit. I went with the Canon MP830 largely based on the tech specs as well as the price of the ink. I only have it a short time but already I can see that this is a great product. No regrets here and I would encourage anyone to consider this in their purchase decision. Nice features and excellent print quality. Speed is good and unit is quite user friendly.

This Canon AIO printer is Excellent and extremely easy to setup and work the functions. Even a cave man can do it. The ink is not really that expensive if you set up your printing default to draft mode, unless you need to print pictures or a detail document. I am sold on Canon quality over the other brands. It can even print DVDs with the DVD tray available from England and printable DVD-R sold by Buy.com

3 of 5 Perplexing problems Monday, June 25, 2007
grickert from Larchmont, NY
I replaced an old HP multifunction with the PIXMA MP830 and am frankly a little disppointed with it. The print quality is top notch and the duplex printing is a plus, but some features of the printer have given me troubles. Most important is the fact that when I plug the MP830 into my telephone wall jack, all of the phones in my house go dead -- no dial tone. I've tried every hookup combination I can think of without success. Don't know why this happens, and apparently neither does Canon, since their tech support has done little more than send me e-mails filled with technical jargon that they presumably understand, but I certainly don't. (If anyone has a simple solution, please let me know.) Two other features that I find less than satisfactory are the paper feed, especially for envelopes, which is difficult to see and adjust without moving the printer if you have it, as I do, facing outward from a wall, and a power cord that pops out whenever the printer is moved even slightly even though it has plenty of slack. The plug apparently fits very loosely and there are no screw-downs on it (I've actaully had to tape it into position).

5 of 5 Canon MP830 Monday, June 18, 2007
Crowell A. Lisenby (clisenby from Montgomery, Alabama
I've only used the machine a few times, but I have used all the functions. It sends and receives faxes well, and reasonably fast. Even the ones I don't want. It prints outstanding color pictures even in standard mode on plain paper, and it prints black and white fast and clear. I haven't used it enough to run out of ink, which is unusual at my house. Personally, for a small business machine, I don't think you can do better for the price. Tony

5 of 5 Good product, and fast delivery Monday, June 18, 2007
Robert Leonard from Fort Worth, Tx
I found this when looking for this specific printer. I was happy that it was significantly cheaper than anywhere else that I saw it. It was a breeze to set up, and took a matter of minutes to configure it over our home-office network. It did not print business cards with the level of detail we were hoping, but they were very intricate cards, and nothing else has proven a problem as of yet. I would certainly recomment this product.

3 of 5 Page Handling is great Tuesday, June 12, 2007
winterparkcondo from Fraser Colorado
It is great to be able to print front and back sides - and it works really great. Double sided printing is such a time saver for the user. But, and it is a big but, I am having problems with the printer messing up the edge of the paper now and then. You would think this kind of thing would have been seen in a Quality test a the factory and now I will have to call their support line and go thru the hassle of maybe having to ship it back and get a replacement. We will see. Overall, I love the printer, set up was easy, instructions were excellent and links with Windows vista were helpful.

5 of 5 Works Great; No problems Friday, June 08, 2007
A Customer from Carlsbad, CA
I simply followed the directions in setting up the printer and the software and it all worked smoothly. I really like the way the printer moves the head into place for putting in new ink cartridges and how it lights up an LED when an ink cartridge is properly seated. I haven't done a lot with it yet, but what I did print was fast and looked great. I bought this top of the line model with a sheet feeder for the scanner because a friend of mine was very happy with a with a less expensive model which has just the flatbed. I've regreted buying cheap multi-function printers before. I don't expect to regret this purchase.

5 of 5 Replacement Ink Cartridge for Canon Wednesday, May 30, 2007
Jim from Roanoke, VA
OEM ink is very expensive, but aftermarket ink is available on-line. I own the MP 800 which is very similar and have used aftermarket ink with success. Aftermarket ink cost about 1/3 the cost of OEM. OEM ink cartridge comes with a chip on the cartridge which prevents a simple switch in cartridges. You have to remove the chip(pry it off) from the OEM cartridge and use double sided tape to adhere it to the aftermarket cartridge. Pretty simple once you do it. Print quality has been very good with the aftermarket, but I don't think they last quite as long as OEM. If you don't mind a little hassle, I think that it is finacially worth it. Can't remember the brand I use, but it comes in a blue and yellow box. I hope this helps those looking for a cheaper way to print. Refill kits are also available on the net, but I haven't used them.

5 of 5 Cannon Pixma MP830 Sunday, May 27, 2007
Techno-phobe from Texas City, TX
I have always had HP printers. But I found myself in the market for a new printer when the old one stopped working. Rather than just purchase another HP, because that is what I know... I did my homework, read the reviews, did some comparison shopping, and it really paid off! I love the new Cannon MP830! It is a much faster printer and it has some neat bells and whistles the other printers did not such as duplex printing. It was easy to set up - no problems - first time out of the box it was up and running in about 20 minutes (and most of that time was used trying to determine where it would sit in the office!) I will definitely shop at Buy.com in the future. This was my first purchase with them but I feel I got the best price and the experience/shipping was hassle free. The product arrived before it's promised due date. Five stars all the way. Thanks!

5 of 5 Canon Printer ..... A Great Buy Saturday, May 26, 2007
A Customer from Kodak, TN
I am a faithful believer in Consumer Reports reviews. I have used them for over 20 years and have yet to be disappointed in any products they recommend. Before purchasing a new All-In-One Printer, I once again checked their recommendation. The Canon PIXMA MP830 was their No. 1 pick. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was also priced very reasonably. I purchased a new printer because I am going back to school and will be using it frequently for papers, etc. I do not begin school until July, so at this point I have only used it for some general printing, faxing, and scanning. No big jobs yet. However, I have been very happy with what I have done with it so far. I would highly recommend this All-In-One printer to anyone looking to buy one.

5 of 5 It slices, it dices, it does everything! Sunday, May 13, 2007
A Customer from San Diego, CA
After spending weeks trying to decide which all-in-one I really wanted and needed, I chose the Canon PIXMA MP830. It was rated highly in Consumer Reports and it seemed the best value for the most versatility. Although I am still figuring out how everything works, I have scanned photos with it, copied, printed, faxed, etc. and it is fairly easy to figure out and very, very fast. I was able to get rid of all my other computer peripherals because this does it all. Thanks to Buy.com for the great price and the free shipping as well.

5 of 5 Very nice piece of equipment for the money Monday, April 23, 2007
Paul F from Beacon Falls, CT
I purchased this unit after owning an MP780 at home. I was so impressed with the 780 that I went out looking for another for my office, but it had been discontinued. So many times the "new version" of a product is a lesser rendition, but not true in this case. The MP830 seems even nicer if that's possible. I don't use it as a photo printer, but of a general office tool for Fax, printing, and the occasional quick copy, this unit is hard to beat. The build quality is MUCH nicer than many of the other products out there, the features for the price are unreal, and my favorite... it always just "works"! No fiddling, no "crap the paper jammed", it just plugs along without fail. I'd buy another in an instant.
