This is a wonderful printer. I've always had HP's but this printer received some great reviews, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm not disappointed. I love the double sided printing... It's fun just to watch it. I also like the separate ink tanks for each color. That's a money saver. The only negative is that the black isn't as black as the HP on text. Pretty close though.

First, I've always own HP and didn't want to try other brand, however with purchase of Canon SD500, I couldn't resist rebate and price. Second, I tried to set up without looking at easy setup manuals but got lost so I kept referring to manuals. Took about 30-40 mins from time I opened the box and printing my first photo. Third, the quality of the photo is VERY impressive. I read some reviews but I didn't realize how excellent photos were until I bought one for myself and it is really FAST. I really regret not buying this printer early!!!! Only complain I have is: - Printer looks little odd compare to my HP 970CSE - The time it took to setup (yes, refer to manual) Otherwise, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

I've had a couple photo printers, but nothing comes close to comparing to this. It's crisp and clear so you better have a decent camera or good photo editing software, because it will pickup any imperfection. It's fairly quick when it comes to printing and silent.

This printer is simply stunning. EXCELLENT photo prints. Definitely on par with anything you'd get from a photo lab. I've read several reviews on this printer, some claiming the photo results are very good, but text is better, etc. etc. This simply is not true. The photo output using canon photo paper pro is stunning. For the price, you cannot find a better printer.Some may claim that the 6 - 8 color models from canon and epson may provide a richer color pallette (but from what I have seen, they look no better), however the 1 picoliter size and resolution of this printer I feel gives it the edge even over these other printers.The ease of use, and quality of this printer far surpasses anything i've ever used in the past. Canon's photo printing software that comes with the printer makes it very easy to get amazing prints, and color-matches the actual digital photo perfectly. No messing around with the DPI of the photo to get the right output size and quality, no need for cropping, etc. It takes care of it for you, all behind the scenes. Buy it!!!!

Got this printer so we can do our own photo printing and to help my wife with large batch printing jobs. My wife can actually leave and let a batch of 200 pages print without a babysitter. She also swears the photos look as good if not better than the commercial printers. Been very happy with it, my text documents look as good as a laser printer.

The printer is easy to set up, printing photos is too easy and Canon has corrected their only software weakness by eliminating the most correctible problems (like red eye) so simply even an idiot (such as myself) can easily use it. The colors are very vivid, the ink usuage is reasonable, and Canon still allows you to replace only the tank you need, but they were the first to do it, now everyone does. Canon make a much more expensive unit that uses even more individual colors of ink, but for most people up to nearly professional, this is all the Photo Printer they would ever need. I have used the other Photo Printers out there in this price range. If they are compatible in price their quality is terrible, and their ink cartridges are extremely expensive. If the photos are nearly the caliber that the Canon produces, the printers are at least $100.00 more. I do shop diligently, I'm disabled so I have lots of time to study these things. For regular printing, even or especially B&W, this is the best printer Canon had produced for the money.
