| | | The Office Will Never Be The Same
With the multi-purpose offerings of the imageCLASS MF4690, there will hardly be a task your office can’t handle!
With this one compact, space-saving solution, you and anyone in your office can print, scan, copy, and fax documents with impressive speed and quality. The imageCLASS MF4690 monochrome laser MFP prints and copies at speeds up to 21 pages-per-minute for letter-sized output at up to 1200 x 600 dpi print resolution. The imageCLASS MF4690 also offers advanced send features so users can scan-to-e-mail, -file, -fax, or -USB memory port in the user’s choice of JPEG, TIFF, PDF or high-compression PDF formats. The built-in networking features, along with the device’s duplexing capabilities, make it an ideal small office solution for single or multiple networked users.
For efficient output and paper conservation, the imageCLASS MF4690 MFP provides duplex output for letter-sized paper when printing, receiving faxes and copying. The duplexing capability will enable you to significantly reduce paper consumption by printing two-sided documents from a personal computer, or even incoming faxes. The unit will also copy single-sided pages to double-sided output, again reducing unnecessary paper usage. The 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) easily feeds multiple pages for copying or scanning for easy-to-use office workflows.
The device’s 35-page ADF allows one-to-two sided copying, printing, and faxing and is equipped with a 250-sheet front-loading paper cassette. The MF4690 model can copy up to 8.5 inches x 14 inches (legal) from the ADF or letter-sized using the platen glass.
The imageCLASS MF4690 model uses Canon’s Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner and drum in one easy-to-replace unit, resulting in excellent image quality retention and eliminating the complication and warehousing of separate toner and drum consumables.

5 of 5 Works like a charm Tuesday, December 09, 2008 A Customer from Denver, CO
This is everything that I was expecting.
It is probably overkill for home use, but I wanted duplex printing and an automatic feeder. Works great as a photocopier (replacing scanning to the PC and then printing).
I am alsso copying a bunch of Photos and the scanner works well for that application.
Fax worked for my test copy.
All in all, no regrets

5 of 5 Great laser printer Saturday, March 01, 2008 andrea mueller from frankfort, ky
This Canon was an amazing deal. I bought it b/c it received the highest score on Consumer Reports when compared with other laser printers. Then, combined with the great deal on buy.com, I had to get it for my small business. It works great and it does everything! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great buy Monday, February 25, 2008 A Customer from Las Vegas, NV
The Canon imageCLASS MF4690 Laser Multifunction machine is everything it claims. Easy to use, easy to setup (except the scanning mode), fast, almost instant response when printing from sleep mode, multiple duplex functions are a snap, print quality is beautiful. My kids use it daily and even they understand all the functions.
Don't hesitate to purchase this printer! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 best overall, mfp Monday, February 25, 2008 A Customer from Jenks, Ok
I was skeptical at first, would a laser meet our needs? We had always had an ink jet and complained about the ink cost. This laser was easy to setup, tho it took about 20 minutes. Once setup, I went to my laptop in another room, got on the network, found the printer, and was able to print and fax from that machine. Very easy to use, high speed, great paper capacity. Scanning was effortless, I was familiar with the software from an old Win98 based printer, and found the speed and accuracy to be good as well. Excellent print quality and quiet operation, uses 1 watt of power when on standby. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 excellent multifunction printer Sunday, February 24, 2008 Gelu from Portland, Orygun
I took the time to reseach this one. Does everything it says and does it well. Love the web interface to troubleshoot. Email did not work for me. I probably need to setup DNS/sendmail (linux head), and I'm too lazy. Printing to SMB shares works great! I can finally go paperless with this beast. Lows: optical scan quality 600dpi -- puny, plastic top for the main tray -- flimsy, got to powercycle everytime you change your network-settings -- expected, high cost per page -- set it to econo mode. Highs: one/two button PDF print to SMB share, prints FAST (fastest I've seen), small footprint, networking, laser cartridge (w/ drum built in) -- no longer paying the inkjet piper. 5 of 5 Inexpensive AIO with advanced scan to email functi Sunday, February 24, 2008 Patrick from Roswell, GA
We have an expensive Ricoh multi-function copier/printer/scanner on lease in our office for everyone but I wanted a personal AIO in my office for confidential documents. I couldn't find a personal AIO for less than $300 that could scan to email through an ethernet connection without being connected to my notebook. The Canon MF4690 normally sells for more than $400 and when Buy.com had an offer for it, it was a no brainer. The network printing was easy to set up but network settings for scan to email was a bit tricky. I am still trying to figure out how to scan directly to a shared folder on my notebook - the manuals are not very user-friendly. Network printing works well and the machine is much quieter than another Konica that I had. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Laser All in One Wednesday, February 13, 2008 Fire Fighter Mike from NJ
I have been looking for a AIO laser printer for a while. I found the Canon installation instructions to be easy to follow. Set up went flawlessly. I haven't tried the fax capabilities yet (didn't buy it for that feature - but it is nice to have). Copying, printing and scanning work great. Network printing went off w/o a hitch. Very quiet printing - also very fast. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?
