5 of 5 CanoScan 8800 Tuesday, May 05, 2009
Richard Werner from Denton, Texas

At this time I have only scanned slides. The results have been very good. There are many buttons that I have not tried to use. The customer service individuals are very knowledgeable and helpfull on the product. The next project will be down loading pictures. I would recommend this product to anyone.

5 of 5 Scans like a champ Monday, March 16, 2009
jfortes from San Jose, CA
I used this scanner to digitize my documents and family photos. So far this thing scans great. It scans better for pictures than documents. I love how its one touch and crops the image for you on picture scanning mode. I also liked how you can group pdf documents instead of scanning them individually. I did have trouble scanning documents that were crease and not flat. My fujitsu scansnap scans these better and with better quality. To get around this I just taped the documents down to get a better scan. But for the price you pay, quality, and software I would recommend buying this.

5 of 5 Great Scanner Sunday, March 01, 2009
Kelly from Washington State
I have had the CanoScan 8800F for about 3 weeks now and it has been in use daily! Scanning very old slides has been very easy and the quality is great. Adding the Photoshop Elements software was definitely a bonus. For the price you can't beat this scanner, and BUY.COM offered the best deal. Faster shipping than I expected too! So far it has exceeded our expectations.

5 of 5 Very nice Tuesday, February 24, 2009
Faron S. from Snohomish, WA
I had a Microteck it was loud and slow. This scanner is quiet very fast for making copies. Does a great job with photos though it is a bit slower the higher dpi used yet the quality is crisp I'm glad I bought it.

5 of 5 Great overall Scanner Tuesday, February 24, 2009
Ray from Cincinnati, OH
I purchased this scanner to enable negative and slide scans and improve scans of old prints. I couple this with Photoshop Elements 6 (Mac). This scanner also replaced an older LIDE60, also from Cannon. This 8800 unit is great. It scans fast whether in preview mode or final mode. The images are sharp. I've used this with 35mm negatives and full format 3x3 negatives. For the former you just use the adapter provided. For the latter, it's a little tricky as you need to align the negative along the transparancy strip. The negatives are automatically converted to positive images, with excellent color reproduction. The Canon scanning software is OK. DPI density is broad range. With Photoshop, my old B&W photos come to life! I've used the scanner for more mundane copying tasks. It's easy and fast. Buy.com provided a small discount, beating competition. Importantly, the scanner was available. Seemed to be out of stock at other places.

5 of 5 Works great! I'm scanning old photos... Saturday, February 14, 2009
Curtis from Alpharetta, GA
and I wanted something that would scan multiple photos (I've done up to 6) and it would then turn it into separate files! The software will launch whatever application you want. I use Photoshop and it does a great job. It worked perfectly right out of the box...the installed software seems to be very good although I haven't tried anything else yet. I also have to scan a bunch of old slides and I hope it works as good as it does on the old photos!

4 of 5 Not if you're in a hurry Saturday, January 03, 2009
A Customer from Simpsonville, SC
Maybe this is typical of a slide scanner, but it takes about a minute per slide to scan. The slide holder allows you to scan 4 slides at a time, but to get decent quality scans from it be prepared to wait 4-6 minutes for it to scan the 4 slides. Overall it's a good scanner thus far and really does a great job with standard tasks. I've only used the bundled Photoshop Elements 5.0 software a few times so far, but it seems really nice and fairly easy to use.

Fantastic. Started using right out of the box. Scans slides with great results. Button location sometimes a problem as they are easy to activate when loading a document.

5 of 5 Excellent Value and Performance Wednesday, October 08, 2008
Stephen Chen from Wheaton, IL
I have been using this scanner for over one month and am very pleased. The quality of the images is excellent and although I have not yet scanned photographs, I do not doubt that they will be excellent. I like the on/off switch which conserves power and the scanning head (my old scanner died because the power was never switched off -- my bad for not unplugging it after each use).

5 of 5 Great scanner for Mac Wednesday, September 24, 2008
A Customer from Oakland, CA
Others have already commented favorably on the quality of scans this machine produces; I echo that. In addition the software works flawlessly on my Mac running OS 10.5.5 with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. The scanner always comes up; the software is easy and intuitive to use, and it plays very well with others. I particularly like the slide and film adapters, and how the software automatically picks out the frames for preview. A real time saver. It’s also easy to hack up your negs and scan them; some scanners I’ve used don’t like single negs very much. A very good buy. I’m still gonna use a commercial service for my high rez slide scans for the most part, although this machine is fine for lower rez scans of them, and great for negative lower resolution stuff and printed photos. But you’ve got to pay really big $$ to get a much faster scanner, and it’s just not worth it for the home user in most cases. This will work great for you.

5 of 5 A GREAT Music Scanner Sunday, August 31, 2008
John S. from Richmond, VA
The CANON 8800F produces the best scans of music I have yet seen. I tried Epson,HP and Microtek, none produced the quality of scan like the Canon. Fewest errors/page of any of them. Also, the Canon is one of the relatively few scanners with drivers for MAC 10.5 (Leopard).

5 of 5 Canon Scores Again! Sunday, June 29, 2008
Pastor Jay from Raleigh, NC 27606
The Canon Canoscan 8800F is a great machine. I previously used the Canoscan 8000F, which I thought was great having previously used a LexMark Scanner. But this Canonscan 8800F is far superior to the previous Canoscan product. Not that the Canoscan 8000F was not great but the capabilities of the Canoscan 8800F seem to be unlimited. For me installation was a breeze. And Buy.com offered a great price, $30. below Canon's e-Store. And shipping was free. The free shipping indicated a 5 to 7 day delivery time, however, I received the scanner within 48 hours of placing my order. Buy.com has provided the best service of any other on-line computer store with whom I have done business. The others were good, but Buy.com is the best.

5 of 5 Very pleased with the results Wednesday, June 18, 2008
PW from NY, NY
This is my second CanoScan, the first was 4 years ago, hard to use and mediocre results. The 8800 is a huge improvment, user friendly, sturdy. It was worth the extra money to get the higher quality I needed for photo transfers. I still haven't mastered the editing, but I am confident I will figure it out.

5 of 5 Good Scanner Saturday, May 17, 2008
Tony A. from Haiku, Maui, Hawaii
I do the advertising for Pauwela Cafe and Bakery (http://www.pauwelacafe.com) in Haiku, Maui, Hawaii. I found the Canon CanoScan 8800F a pleasure to use! There is no warmup time and it scans very clean. Like all Canon products you just can't go wrong. There are also "scanner function buttons" right on the cover of the scanner which makes it easy to go to what you want such as creating a pdf, making a copy or scanning a picture. Overall I give this scanner five stars!

5 of 5 Great product overall Saturday, May 17, 2008
Tazz from Minneapolis, MN
I bought this primarily to scan in old 35mm slides. Works great for slides and pictures also. Quality of scans is great. I love the options available for a scanner at this price range, such as scan resolution size and file format options. It was easy to install. Works well with VISTA. I didn't need the software as I already have software for editing photos. Only minus is documentation is weak.

5 of 5 Very high quality Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Tom R. from Minneapolis, MN
I was going to buy a comparible HP or Epson but I'm glad I went with this Canon 8800F. Really a solid product and BUY.COM had the best price w/free shipping. It shipped the next day by FEDEX so what more could one ask for? I love BUY.COM. The scanner scans photos and slides much faster than others so it speeds up my work. Comes with three sldie/film adapters which is cool. The software it comes works works very well. No complaints at all. BUY THIS ONE PEOPLE and don't waste you money on cheaper scanners, I've been there.

The scanner installed and started up excellent. I have used it several times and must say that the construction is fine and that it does what it says. I can only hope that Canon continues to support such a nice scanner.

5 of 5 This is the one!!! Thursday, December 06, 2007
A Customer from Largo, FL
We had a 8600 canoscan that was stolen from our store. We got the 8800 to replace it, and are we glad it was stolen! The 8800 runs circles around it's predecessor. Get this one. It's the best I've ever seen; really.

5 of 5 Great product! Wednesday, November 21, 2007
A Customer from Denver, Colorado
I've only used the scanner a couple of times so far, but it's been everything I'd hoped for. Set-up was a breeze, and the scanner was extremely easy to use. I was able to import images directly into Adobe Photoshop CS. The scans were high quality. I haven't used the film scanning aspect of it yet, but I'm assuming the results will be equally satisfactory.
