5 of 5 Canon scanner is great! Friday, May 02, 2008
Doug Hender from Idaho Falls, ID

I have had a Visioneer scanner for a number of years but the inside of the glass started clouding up. They (even the CEO ) refused to provide any solutions other than to buy a new Visioneer scanner (fat chance). I purchased this Canon scanner as a replacement and it works great! I have successfully copied black & white as well as color articles without any tweaking using the button on the front panel as well as TWAIN scanning into Paint Shop Pro. It does a much better job than the Visioneer for a third of the cost.

5 of 5 A Great Scanner for the Money Sunday, April 13, 2008
A Customer from Washington, DC
So far (we've had the scanner about 2 weeks), the CanoScan 4400F has performed as promised. The scanner is being used in an office setting for converting occassional hard-copy documents into electronic form. The OmniPage 4.0 SE software that is included with the scanner does OCR very well. We have not yet tried the scanner's other features. Buy.com wins plaudits for offering an attractive price and sending us the order promptly and in good shape.

4 of 5 Great Scanner and a Great Price Thursday, March 13, 2008
A Customer from Thief River Falls, MN
I purchased this scanner because of great reviews and because I needed a scanner which would work with VISTA. I am not disappointed. You will need to update software from the Canon site, but that went without a hitch, even though the instructions were not the best. After I updated from Canon, I installed the scanner software without any trouble. This scanner performs great with VISTA and I have no complaints. It scans 35mm slide film great, crops the slide and places it within a folder without any extra steps. Quality is very good. Contrast is excellent and I couldnt ask for anything better. Speed is very good and the noise level is low. CCD works great and I like the cold cathode lamp. This scanner completes PDF images, copy and e-mails are a snap. Be aware that this scanner does not have a holder, nor is it equipped for any negatives larger then 35mm slide or strips and that is my only negative comment. The price was great and the free shipping from buy.com was an extra bonus. Buy this unit with confidence.

5 of 5 Awesome scanner Monday, March 03, 2008
A Customer from Lynden, Wa.
I bought this scanner after being without one for a year. My Visioneer would not work with Vista. This scanner is awesome. I can lay 4 pictures on it and it scans them all the same time and crops them. What a plus! The quality is excellent. I have scanned negatives, and even old Polaroid pictures and they are so clear. When I print them they look as good as the originals. I have to say for the $90.00 I spent, it really exceded my expectations. It is easy to operate. I have to say, I am a Canon fan..I have a canon printer, camera, and now the scanner. I feel if you buy Canon, you buy with Confidence!!

5 of 5 Great scanner Wednesday, February 13, 2008
A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
I purchased this scanner for two things...one was to scan my son's artwork as he slowly becomes an artist, and the second was to scan slides that I have taken over the years to put into a slideshow for my 50th birthday party. And in both cases, the scanner has worked beautifully! The only glitch was getting the software to properly recognize slide scanning...once I did that (by stumbling into the right settings), the slides scanned well and relatively easily. Don't expect to scan quickly lots of them, but the ones you do scan come out really well. For ~$90, this is a real bargain! For fun, I also scanned a couple old rolls of B&W negatives that I developed as a kid, and they turned out great too.

5 of 5 Excellent scanner Sunday, February 10, 2008
dyu from VA
This scanner is my upgrade in a while. The main purpose is to scan my old films. The scanner is very easy to use. Excellent pictures. However, it took 6 minutes to scan one negative at 2400 dpi. The scanner's 9600 dpi optical capability is not likely to be useful and practical for most of the users.

5 of 5 Great external hard drive! Saturday, January 26, 2008
A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
I ordered this hard drive around 5 p.m. one evening from Buy.com with standard shipping, and by early after noon it was at my doorstep. It took just a few minutes to set it up. and a few minutes more to back up about 10 gig of my laptop PC. Couldn't be easier! One drawback is that the canned software only seems to allow one "backup set"...instructions for which folders to back up and when. I tested connecting the drive to my work laptop afterwards, and all the files I copied there from my personal laptop were easily found and quickly retrievable. I would recommend this drive highly.

5 of 5 Great Scanner for the Price Tuesday, December 25, 2007
Barry from Dallas, Texas
I bought this scanner to digitize my 1000's of color slides. The quality of the slide scan is very good. It is a little slow, but you can do it better and faster than the cheap mail in services. This is great value for the low price.

5 of 5 Great results on this scanner Monday, December 24, 2007
Lou from Massachusetts
I hadn't bought a scanner since my old Canon 2100 and wanted to do photos and especially archive/digitize b/w and color negatives. The quality of the scans is terrific - good high res jpg (or other formats) that can be cleaned up with the existing software (very intuitive) for printing in large formats. Only two downsides I've seen so far is that high res negative scanning can take a while - about 2 minutes per image at 2200 dpi. Also - it doesn't say it anywhere, but its very important to calibrate the scanner for slides/negatives. I've only had to do this once, but was feeling a little frustrated early on until I found this function. Over that hurdle now - feel this is great value for the money.

1 of 5 Great, when it works Tuesday, December 18, 2007
mmxwa from Vancouver, WA
I replaced another failed Canon scanner with this 4400F. I used it 6 months. It worked sometimes, and the quality of output was great when it worked. Nothing wrong with the scanner, but it doesn't like the software. Google "cannot communicate with scanner" for all Canon and you'll see what I mean. Save yourself a lot of trouble and get an HP. After owning many Canon products, I won't buy them again. Very bad experience.

5 of 5 So easy to use. Friday, November 30, 2007
Joe M from Camp Hill, PA
I love this scanner because it just too easy to use. I wanted to convert some 20 year plus slides and negatives but I didn't know what kind of scanner to buy. I did a little searching and found this one here at a dirt cheap price. Put a couple slides in the scanner and just hit the button, that's it. The software detects the slides and then scans them and places them on your computer. If you want to use negatives, just throw them into the scanner and it automatically detects them and creates the pictures.

5 of 5 Great scanner Tuesday, September 25, 2007
A Customer from WI
My old scanner was a very outdated Microtek. It had low resolution compared to current scanners and it was extremely loud and slow. This one is a huge relief. It does a great job. No problems so far.
