This is for the single player only, I haven't tried multiplayer yet: Extremely well done game! Each "mission" is unique. It's almost like a pack of 5-10 minigames. But the common theme is excellent detail, and fast moving. I thought the voice acting was superb, and sound effects are equal. Very immersive game-play (I play it on an 8800GT, but I've also played the demo on an X1800XT, and it was quite smooth)

The only other war game I have played is Call of Duty 2. I tend to play shooters like Half-Life and Halo. CoD 2 snagged me from the start, and I played it until the end, almost without stopping. So when this came out, I bought it on the day of release. It rates three "5" scores, but I had to give a 4 for difficulty because it just isn't as hard as CoD 2. For graphics and gameplay, however, I wish I could give it a 6 because it is a glorious feast for the eyes and brain. I find myself totally immersed in the story, so much so that I end up playing until my wrists hurt! If you liked Call of Duty 2, BUY THIS! Was this review helpful?

Super fun game. It was playable straight out of the box. This is the best COD version yet. I've played all since COD1. The SP is very cool and fun1but not the most challenging. MP is awesome. Having a "blast" playing this game online! Was this review helpful?

First let me say that the graphics for CoD4 are amazing. The amount of detail, and the amount of action that can take place at once is stunning. Second, let me say that the single player story is pretty good. It plays out like an interactive summer blockbuster movie. These two points make it a must buy if you like modern warefare.

The downsides... Like a movie, the game isnt very realistic when it comes to the actual weapons of war. The gun sfx are lackluster at best and sound as if the development team recorded the metal plates used for practice, rather than the actual weapons firing. And you start with 350 rounds of ammo. I've yet to run out, and I've been expending munition like they are free M&M's at a kids movie.
<br><br>
Next, the "lean" feature is worthless I would have preferred a more robust lean/peek from cover system like Medal of Honor Airborne.

I've only managed to play a little online and I liked what I experienced. However, I only played Attack and Defend and those maps tended to go pretty quickly. The one feature I LOVE is the "Kill Cam". (Seeing yourself get waxed is awesome)

Over all I really like the game. I'm hoping that replayabilty doesn't suffer because it's so scripted. However, online should keep me pretty happy for a while. For the future I'd like to see Co-op story mode. That would be cool.
