Cafe Jazz is just one of them. What's contained on this disc are 14 classic bop tracks form many of the finest and most innovative artists of their day, including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Fats Navarro, Stan Getz, Milt Jackson (and separately the Modern Jazz Quartet), and Dexter Gordon, to name a few. There are many ways to find a good introduction to bop, and although this is not necessarily the best, it is certainly a stomping compilation without a weak cut in the batch. ~ Thom Jurek | Producer: Joshua Sherman (Compilation) |
