It took Buy.com 6 days to get this to me via the free shipping. Not bad. It cost me about $19 total. So far, I have successfully hooked up 4 hard drives, a CDROM ,and a DVDRW drive. All were IDE. 3 of the HDDs were 3.5" IDE and the 4th was a 2.5" IDE. All the HDDs were years old. Of the 4 HDDs I tried, 1 was a 40GB Seagate, 1 was a 80GB Maxtor Diamond Max 10, and the 3rd was an 80GB WD Caviar. The 4th and final HDD was a 20GB 2.5" Hitachi. All of them worked perfectly. Each of the optical drives are years old too. 1 was an IDE Sony DVDRW and the other was an IDE Sony CDROM. They worked perfectly too. I don't have any SATAs so couldn't test it yet. Great Product. Very useful. It came with no manual. I don't mind except that there's a power wire included that I am not sure what devices it's for. I'm Glad I bought this. Sure beats those USB computer-to-computer transfer wires

Like others I didn't want to have to open up a machine or use an external enclosure to quickly plug in an old drive and check the contents. I tried this with two IDE drives and (once I realized that I had to set them to 'Master') they both worked fine. The picture doesn't show you but you get an external power supply with connections for IDE, SATA and laptop drives. The pictured multi-plug connects to laptop and IDE drives and has a cable to connect SATA. No drivers or anything required on the Vista system I tried this on.

Needed to access 2 PCI hard drives and one SATA. Worked perfect for all drives. With a bit of recovery software, saved photos lost for 5 years on damaged drives.

This product is very convenient for my use to troubleshoot other hard-drives from other workstations w/out having to put them into an enclosure or installing them into a working workstation. The only down side is its is easy to loose the individual adapters, would be nice if it had a little plastic case for these items.

Haven't tested it out fully as of yet. Only tried it with an IDE drive and I was able to see everything. I did try this product with a brand new SATA drive, but it would not recognize. Unfortunately, the drives connected to this product MUST be pre-formatted. So I must go about the old fashion way of opening my CPU, connecting the new HD to an available SATA port, formatting from there first before actually being able to use the product. So if you don't mind that little "quirk" to the product, it is a good product. Especially if you want to avoid the clutter of many external HDs on your desk.

This set of cables and power supply indeed do what it's advertised to do: enable both IDE and SATA hard drives to connect to a PC via a USB port. My opinion is that the product is a good value for the $18 (after rebate) I paid. My only complaint is that tt came with no paperwork or diagrams showing how to use the cables for the different drive types. Using IDE type drives is obvious, but SATA use was tricky. This product has an advantage over a hard drive enclosure: many enclosures can creat an overheating situation...use of this product doesn't cause that problem.

chose a "1" since no "0" offered. No documentation to speak of, fried my hard disc on the first try, though. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CRAP!!!!!

This thing works and its a wonderful idea! I plan on buying another one. I think it works as well as any external enclosure and is more versatile.

A really great product! I have wanted one of these for years. It works exactly as described, right out of the box. With Windows XP and Vista, just plug it in. The OS recognizes the device and loads the appropriate driver. There is an included Mini-CD with a Windows 98 driver. Now I can access "good" hard drives that have been removed from dead computers without having to install the hard drive in another computer just to access the data or to erase and reformat. I'm completely satisfied.

This works great. It really comes in handy if you have extra or old drives laying around. It will allow you to use them all as back-ups or to store and share files and media. The biggest plus is that it will work with any size drive. Some external cases or cables are limited to a certain amount of gigabytes but this cable works with any size.

Outstanding product. I'm an independent computer consultant and instructor at the local community college. I use this product every week in my business and in both A+ and Network+ classes when demonstrating backups and data transferring. Cables Unlimited version beats the others including cheap knockoffs on eBay because it is ultra reliable and doesn't require you to open the case for a power connection for the hard drive. I now stock this item to sell to customers. A NO Brainer!!

the only thing that this item lacks is the SPECS. unlike other similiar products, this product supports NTFS. i have test this item on VISTA environment, and i was able to BACKUP/RECOVER the failed VISTA system drive. This is an awesome BACKUP product. I just wish that it is more portable. too much wirings and cablings.

This ALL-IN-ONE device has too many adapters, too many cables too much clutter and too easy to lose. I bought 5 of these for my department and they work well. Just keep up with what you have. A true all in on device would be nice. Univ Tenn Medical Center.
