5 of 5 Works great! Tuesday, June 30, 2009 Dennis B. from Colorado Springs, CO
Worked perfectly right out of the box. This is a powered hub, so you can plug all kinds of power hogs into it with no problem. I superglued mine to the bottom of my monitor, so it's 100% stable and easy to access. It has a nice long cord, so reaching from my computer (which sits way to the left of my desk on the floor) to the monitor was no problem.
The lights make it easy to find the ports at night, and they make me happy. Then again, any brightly colored object makes me happy.
I've got this fat (twice as thick as a typical flash drive)USB adapter for a SATA hard drive, and it fits with other ports in use next to it. So, dang near anything should fit. And I haven't had any problem inserting or removing devices in the middle of the hub with other devices next door.
Buy this hub and stop swapping out USB devices on the lousy two ports they give you on the front of your computer (if you're lucky). I think I'll get another one and superglue it to the top of my laptop. Okay, maybe not. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Does it's job Thursday, April 30, 2009 Jeremy from Oklahoma City, OK
Painless, works out of the box with MacOS X, all of my devices now connect up to the MacBook with just one USB. Great value and service from Buy.com Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 All 5's Rating says it all Wednesday, April 29, 2009 WEB from Fulks Run, VA
This little hub came out of the plastipak, installed itself painlessly (under XP Pro ... ugh ... finally had to succumb), has worked without a glitch of any kind every since. The small size is great, makes it a super traveler for the laptop. What can I say? The price was right, it works right out of the box, does what it's supposed to and nothing more. My kind of equipment. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice USB hub with external power supply Wednesday, April 29, 2009 Oleksandr Dzyubak from Rochester, MN
I was looking for an inexpensive USB hub for several reasons. First my PC box has only two USB ports. The ports are very hard to reach. The ports I have do not provide enough power for external portable HDs (in some cases up to 300-500 mA). I started with portable USB hubs powered by rechargeable batteries as they were claimed to provide enough start-up current. And it failed. Even after I bought quite expensive batteries, it still kept failing on some external portable HDs. So ultimately I ended up with the Cables Unlimited 7 x USB 2.0 hub. It has nice compact design, 7 ports, and a quite long USB cable to connect to my PC box so I could keep the hub on my table. Works just out of the box and properly mounts all my external devices without any problem. Overall it is very nice product which satisfies all my needs. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub is escellent! Tuesday, April 28, 2009 Marcus Lyon from Houston, TX
Cables Unlimited 7-Port Multi-TT mode USB 2.0 Hub is a low profile hub with all 7 ports lined up in front. A red LED shines when the unit is powered up with a supplied A/C adapter. Each of the 7 ports has a green LED indicating availability. All ports are vertically placed making it easier to plug in jump drives without sacrificing neighboring ports. This is an excellent unit for under $30 DELIVERED price! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Hub! Tuesday, April 28, 2009 A Customer from Shreveport, LA
This hub solved all my problems. The power supply is very adequate to handle all 7 USB ports. It's small footprint saves desktop space. Very nice product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Does exactly what I wanted it to do. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 A Customer from Decatur, Indiana
This is a nice compact hub that did exactly what I needed it to do. I saw the review that complained that it should come with a power supply. I don't know what he got, but this one had a power supply included in the retail package I received.
This item freed-up the USB ports on the front of my machine and the seven ports on the front of the USB Hub allows me to make the cable runs from my USB devices nice, clean, and orderly.
Now, besides the free USB ports on the front of the computer, I had one last port on the hub open. In response to the reviewer who had a problem with the ports being so close together, I had a short USB cable I ran from my last open port on the Hub which gives me access without any hassle. Who needs 7 USB ports exactly where they are most convenient? I do! With just three small design changes, it would be ideal.
First, the unit is a bit small. It holds 7 flash drives nicely, but try to remove just a middle one - no room for fingers.
Second, an optional power supply that could provide 4, 6 or more amps at 5 volts would ensure that it could provide sufficient power for 2 or more external hard drives that power up from the usb bus.
Third, get rid of the internal LED lights. All 7 port LEDs power up when you plug in just one device. Plug in 7 devices, and it looks like a light show. So an LED kill switch would be nice.
OK - all are small complaints, but this thing could go #1 with just a few changes. Actually it's the best I've seen thus far, but I will keep looking for that elusive #1. Was this review helpful?
