    1 of 5 worst product !!! Wednesday, February 20, 2008
    shiv from owings mills, md

Don't even think of buying it ... not only save your money but time and mental peace too. It doesn't works well with Vista and my Sony Vaio(1GB Ram) was running very slow while using it ... when I started using Norton the speed of pc increased. So be smart and don't buy even if they give it for 0$ and a Flash drive .... So seriously DO NOT BUY IT. I can't give 0 or -ve rating to it , i am disappointed.

Product as well as rebates by CA were delivered in record time. The product could use additional features found in their competitors nevertheless it is easy to install and use. I will recomended it!

5 of 5 The best out there Monday, July 23, 2007
    John from Rock Hill, SC
CA is a huge company that no one knows about. Norton has ballooned up to a caricature of a protective suite. I just had to uninstall the latest version on clients' machines as it caused different problems on 3 different machines! McAfee doesn't provide a good enough level of protection and is equally slow. CA uses minimal resources and it updates SO fast, you won't be able to beat it to manually do so. (Norton fails miserably on keeping updated; everytime you hit the button, it has some waiting?!) Mark is right on target about the firewall, but is manageable. Unlike Norton, CA qualifies you for the latest version by subscribing to updates, which cost less than competitors. A great value.

1 of 5 DO NOT BUY IT Tuesday, July 10, 2007
    shiv.kabra from OWINGS MILLS,MD
One piece of advice - "DO NOT BUY IT EVEN IT IS FREE". Yes, I had really hard time after I started using this product. My internet speed was slow whenever the CA firewall was active, amazing !!! yes, even I failed to understand how this is possible; but it happened. I am happy that now I have switched to Norton. Again - DO NOT BUY IT

5 of 5 A step up from the big boys Thursday, April 05, 2007
    Craig from Orange County, CA
I manage a network with about 15 computers. I have used MacAfee and Norton products exclusively for the past 5 years... both at home and here at the office. Both products are top of the line and very robust, but in many ways they overprotect and quickly become intrusive. I finally drew the line when Norton became so cumbersome that it was taking my system a full 3+ minutes to boot up. When I contacted their customer support (based in another country) it took them 30 minutes to discover that 3 minutes was acceptable and they couldn’t help me. I uninstalled all the Norton products and ran without virus protection for the 3 days it took my new CA software to arrive (my bootup time dropped to 40 seconds). My machine here is a Dell 3GHz Pentium with 1GB of RAM and I am running MS XP Pro- not top of the line, but definitely no slouch. For those 3 days I essentially had a new computer- it ran better in every way. Once I received and installed the CA software, I do notice a difference in the speed of my system, but it is a small performance loss easily dismissed (now takes 45 seconds to boot up)- not a huge processor and memory hogging program that adds seconds (sometimes minutes) to every operation. I have had CA installed only for about 2 weeks now, and I have continued to observe that it is not intrusive at all; rather it runs quietly in the background with an occasional pop up. Word and Excel documents open up much faster. Files transfer faster between my desktop and file server. Updates are less intrusive. Outlook sends and receives faster. Straight-forward and easy to use interface. I have not tried to contact CA's customer support, but I have not needed to. At this time I do not see any downsides to this product... aside from the fact that if CA continues on in this fashion; better, faster, and cheaper, the big boys may soon lose all of my business.

    5 of 5 Perfect Wednesday, April 04, 2007
    Chad from Chicago, IL
On win2000, works perfectly--low overhead, not a CPU/mem hog like Mcafee/Norton. Hate to say this, but truth be told: those products just brought my machine to a halt, CA product rescued my machine. Glad I did not waste money thinking my machine was too slow, need a new one, it was just bad, cpu/mem hog software from McAffee/Norton that was killing performance, my machine was fine all along, just unneccessarily bogged down.

1 of 5 Not even worth free. Tuesday, April 03, 2007
A Customer from New York, NY
I bought this CA Security Suite mainly because it included an antivirus software and my current subscription was about to expire. Since it included a firewall, I also uninstalled my Zone Alarm. With the rebates, it was free, luckily. The first thing I noticed is that it took my computer about twice as long as normal to boot up. Then after it finally booted, the path to the shared folder for CA opened on the desktop at the end of every bootup. Annoying. Finally, I uninstalled the package and reinstalled just the antivirus. That seemed to work fine, but it conflicted with my reinstalled Zone Alarm. After working on it for an hour, I finally uninstalled all the CA products and downloaded the free AVG antivirus instead. I won't be using CA products in the future.

5 of 5 Very Slow Rebates Thursday, March 22, 2007
    JoelT from Round Rock TX
I agree that this is an excellent product. It has done everything smoothly, including self-updating. It stays out of the way, and does not interfere with Windows, e-mailing, gaming, etc. However! This same double-rebate deal was going on in December, which is why I bought the product. I installed CA on 12/26, and sent the rebates in the next day. It is now 03/23, and neither rebate has arrived, so please be aware of that. I very much dislike slow rebaters. All of my other December (Christmas shopping) rebates have arrived.

3 of 5 okay if it works with your machine Tuesday, February 27, 2007
    AJS from Kansas
I have struggled with downloads on this product. On an earlier version it took me almost two weeks of working with online agents to get the product to download and run properly on my system. I thought I had it taken care of so I upgraded and had the same problem with the newer version. I ended up restoring my computer back to when I was using my older version and will now run that until it runs out. I haven't decided if I will upgrade on my machine or give it to someone else. I was practically free after my rebates, so I'm not out much. Program is easy to run once it is installed correctly.

5 of 5 Blows the top off other products Thursday, February 08, 2007
    JP from Rock HIll, SC
CA has a real winner. Unfortunately, many people only know N----- or Mc---- products. Both have some awful problems. I have installed and used them all, pay and free. Computer Associates is the best. Uses far fewer system resources and is just as effective in catching viruses. The renewal subscriptions are HALF of the other guys. Combined with the fact that you ALWAYS have the latest product; unlike the "other guys," you DON'T pay for the latest upgrade. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

    5 of 5 Good Product Monday, January 08, 2007
    Mark from Los Angeles, CA
4 in 1 product that lets you install one or all 4 of the programs - also includes a copy of some parental control software. Anti-virus is a breeze to install and scan. The anti-spyware found several items the the freeware spyware checkers missed. The only reason it gets a 4 for ease of use is because the firewall is a little difficult to use. As programs attempt to access the internet, CA firewall stops access and asks if you want to allow. Unfortunately, help info is not very good, though I haven't tried phone support yet. For instance, do I really want to allow "internet explorer is attempting to act as a server"? or "blocked custom header information"? Windows XP has a built-in firewall. It has limitations but isn't bad. Stick with the XP firewall, unless you are more familar with the type of questions asked by the program and can answer intelligently. One last note - All three product licenses activate on the date you activate the first one.
