Buffalo 300GB USB 2.0 MiniStation Turbo Portable External Hard Drive

I bought it, connected to a Vista64 unit and everything works fine. The USB and separate power cord (I think this is for situations where your USB port is not powered, otherwise it isn't needed) are both detachable. Needs a simple case.

This item is exactly as advertised. It's compact, fast, easy to use, and durable. I would recommend it to anyone who travels and needs to carry backup data with them.

Love the extra storage. It freed up a lot of space on my desktop's hard drive. The software directions weren't as crystal clear as they seemed. It didn't install exactly as they said it would, but I didn't have any major problems with it. It's pretty small for a hard drive--as far as physical size--but I appreciate the amount of storage it contains.

I've been using this product for about a month and it works great. It's an external hard disk and it looks and acts like one; not much else to say. I like the design - it's sleek, compact and the cable storage is convenient. If there is one complaint I would say it has to be the rotational speed however, I'm only using it as an external backup drive over USB1 and don't really require a high rpm disk. Depending on the performance demands of the user, I would say this is a really good value.

I purchased the drive strictly for its portability and relatively large size. It does just what I expected. The included software is no great shakes, but I honestly didn't really care about that. Speed is on par with my other external USB hard drives. I pack it between work and home, it gets knocked around a little bit with no ill effects. I'm quite happy.

This 300GB external hard drive is very convenient to store movies and music! The data transferring speed is very high too! Great buy!

It's a great machine and very fast. Works with Vista pretty well, and with Xbox 360 as well, but the best is the price. Just buy it. P.S. I have to say that Buy.com is awsome too, because the first shipping was lost and inmediatly they send me other without any problem. Thanks and Cheers for that.

Great Storage Device with the bonus of plug & play that works as advertised. Impressed with it's compactness & speed, Very easy to use, was able to use on XP and Vista.

Very nice case material and design. Feels good in your hand. Case feels sturdy and doesn't look cheap. No fingerprint marks. Came with power cable but never need to use it. Drive is very quiet. You almost don't notice it's working. It feels warm after hooked up for a few hours but not hot to touch. It would be nicer if the drive is faster than just 4200rpm. I did not give full marks for 2 reasons: A)Such a nice product should come with a case;and B)software should be built into the USB drive and run from there to make it truly portable instead of running off of the PC. Secure Lockware is not friendly. If you messed up, you won't see your file again. Beware!

I have order this product a couple of weeks ago. The reason was that I wanted to back up some of the files on my computer. I did my research before buying the product, but besides that I got very bad one. The product does not worth the money. It is slow and when you want to paste a file often gives an error.

So far, I have been delighted with this product. I easily reformatted the drive to accomodate larger back up files. It was truly plug-and-play. The weight is good and I love the fact that it self-powers from the USB. As a technical trainer who spends many days of the year on the road, this is a travel-friendly addition to my laptop bag!

I use this HD drive to backup my files from my laptop. The transfer rate is quick. The HD seems to be sturdy. When I move my laptop around, the HD hit the coffee table a couple times. The connection cord is too short. That is why I substract a point from my overall satisfaction.

Purchased this for my son to use with his MacBook for photos and large files as well as for Time Machine Backup. The drive was plug and play and works as advertised. I am impressed with its compactness, speed and ease of use.

The USB cable is detachable which was what I was hoping was the case. Although you loose the cable management feature if you unplug the cable altogether, I worry that with the little end sticking out, it could lead to having it bend or break. Order came from J&R. Shipped promptly and arrived in plenty of time for Christmas. The one I got was a Fujitsu drive inside. Satisfied with price, delivery, and product.

I had owned a Maxtor HD one year back and it performed well but lasted for 6 months. After checking all HD, finally i want to give a try with this HD. I am using it from December first week and it is running quite good and checked the data transfer rate along with WD and other products. Its doing pretty good job. The higher RPM means higher the heat - this one is having a correct speed. I copied 40GB in one single slice and the drive ran without any issues. Almost i use 20hrs a day and till now the drive didnt gave any issues. . It looks few grams extra when compared to WD and the bit rate will be boosted when you use Turbo technology which needs to install the small sw in the CD provided with the package. And there is a additional power card, you can use it if you want. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Pros: - Reliable - Power card(people write you dont need it, but believe me if there is more power, the transfer is more reliable) - Build (better than other leading products. May be one of the best) ------------------------------------------------------------------ Cons: - It has 1year limited waranty. I feel the HD should have minimum of three year waranty. - You need to turn the Turbo ON (I am not sure whether there is always ON option). ------------------------------------------------------------------ Conclusion: If you want to have a hardcore activities - then dont think about 2.5" - go for 3.5" HD with power option. I would recommend it to my friends who want to buy a portable, reliable hard disk for backup purpose and normal purposes.

I was a little dissapointed to find out that the "turbo" feature of this drive requires a custom software installation to manage the drive's files. So, rather than use the special software, I'm just being content that this is an ultra-portable 300GB drive. Overall, it's a fantastic piece of gadgety goodness!

For $70.00 you can't beat the price on this small and very portable hard drive. I was amazed at how fast I got it with the free shipping. Works just like it's supposed to.

Bought this for backing up my laptop hard drive. I had trouble making the automatic backup software that came with it work but downloaded another freeware program that works well.
