| Bucky Covington was a finalist in the 5th season of American Idol, where he went on to win the heartsof the American public, finishing 8th on the show. Originally from Rockingham, North Carolina, Bucky's long journey to national attention began where he and his identical twin Rocky were born. Drawn early to country music, Covington was a fan of Tim McGraw, George Strait, and Travis Tritt, among others. After getting his first guitar at age 19, he claimed local fame with the country/southern rock cover band Southern Thunder. He says his style of music is "country, with as much rock in it as I can get away with."

Ryles, Vicki Hampton, Robert Bailey, Bobby Huff (background vocals). | | Recording information: Zoo Studio, Franklin, Tennessee. | | This popular North Carolina singer, who reached the final twelve of AMERICAN IDOL's season five in 2006, acquits himself well on his major label debut with an uptempo selection of rocking country songs whose lyrical preoccupations lie mostly south of the Mason-Dixon line. The nostalgia of "American Friday Night," "Back When We Were Gods," and "A Different World" shows that Covington's not afraid to let his sentimental side show, and he navigates the red-hot rocker "Ain't No Thing" with the assurance of a seasoned pro. | Producer: Mark A. Miller; Dale Oliver |
| | Artist Overview | | Raised in small-town North Carolina, country singer Bucky Covington (born William Joel Covington) first garnered national attention as a finalist on the fifth season of AMERICAN IDOL. Although Covington made it only to eighth place, his down-to-earth persona won over the Nashville crowd, resulting in a warm reception for his 2007 self-titled debut, which spawned the nostalgic hit single "A Different World. The album also featured the Southern-fried rock tune "Ain't No Thing," revealing Covington's stylistic range. |
