5 of 5 Great product Monday, March 30, 2009
David from Huntingdon Valley, PA
I always send out small packages and use this printer for the mailing labels. I just copy the address and paste it into the printers software. I adjust the size to fit into the label and click print. Simple to use and works great.

5 of 5 A perfect desktop PC accessory Thursday, December 04, 2008
Michael from Cleveland, OH
I was so impressed with how easy this label printer was to set-up and use in my office that I bought one for my home-office as well. Labels print incredibly fast and and even the logos/images I use are unbelievably crisp & sharp. It's a snap to add a POSTNET barcode to an address label and use any windows font on your system to create a label. I've had the printers for seveal months now and neither has ever jammed. Just as importantly, the lables print exactly as displayed on-screen in the P-Touch editor software - which means no wasted labels due to bad printing alignment. I paid $18.31 [refurb] for each from Amazon.

4 of 5 Great Product Monday, April 28, 2008
A Customer from Milford, OH
This was easy to set up, and very easy to use. I have several people in my office that are not very savvy with the computer but they had no problems using this labeler, just as I hoped.

5 of 5 Great printer, pretty good software Monday, March 31, 2008

The labels come out great. Took some getting use to the software. Its not as "smart" as I would have liked, but you can make it do what you want with some practice.

5 of 5 Just what I have wanted Sunday, March 30, 2008
Miket from Pine AZ
Have been looking for a reasonably priced single label printer for years. Tried the handheld type some time ago and it was insufficient. Brother has really filled a niche with this one. It works exceptionally well in Windows and has been trouble free. I highly recommend it. Thanks to Buy.com for making it available at a great price.

4 of 5 Nice label printer Saturday, March 29, 2008
DBD from Lucas, TX
I have always had good results with Brother Printer products (laser printers- price performance). The Ql-500 works fine; however, the included software is not intuitive to use. The editor does not clearly identify the process to follow and editing existing forms is a bit difficult if you are not persistent. Considering the price and hardware performance this product is a great buy.

5 of 5 Buy one! Monday, March 10, 2008
soulproprietor from San Diego, CA
This thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Fast, easy, cheap. Works perfectly under Windows XP. I'm going to try to network it next to see how well it works in that environment. I do think it's kind of funny that the Mac people have having such a hard time with this thing and the PC people aren't having any problems at all. Isn't that why people spend too much $ for a Mac? To get something easier?

1 of 5 Brother QL 500 does not work w/ Mx OS 10.5 Monday, January 21, 2008
dplmd from New York City
Original purchase late 2007, Brother claimed works with Mac OS X, It worked fine with OS 10.4 (Tiger), As soon as I upgraded to OS 10.5 (Leopard) it no longer functions. When Brother has been questioned they disregard and I no longer can use the QL-500. Boo on you Brother.

5 of 5 Great printer but the the QL-550 is better value Wednesday, August 29, 2007

This is a great printer but the QL-550 with automatic cutter for another $2 is better value and more intuitive to use. Better than the competition offerings also.

5 of 5 Great little printer Sunday, August 12, 2007
Don from UAB Blazers!
I picked this up when it was the buy of the day for significantly cheaper than it sells for now. The printer is great. It quickly prints your labels and has been handy for putting labels all over my house. I am also using it to print name badges and address labels. The labels are a little hard to find locally but you can find all of them online (much cheaper also). The local stores like Staples, Office Depot, and Office Max have the basic labels but not much selection. Go ahead and stock up here when you buy the printer.

5 of 5 Great Product Sunday, August 12, 2007
DLeMore from Jax., Fla.
I don't usually write reviews but for the price I paid for this and the fast shipping Buy.Com Provided, I thought.... why not? I enjoy the ability of making a long list of names and addresses and using a check-mark to make one label to one address or many labels to many addresses. It also has a feature where it will add the bar code of the United States Post Office which will speed up your letters or packages. I agree with others...this is really going to save me time especially during the holiday season.

5 of 5 Awesome ! Sunday, May 27, 2007
Chris from Fort Wayne, IN
We have a Sekio Label printer at work and I really like it. When I saw this Brother Printer advertised at buy.com for $39.99 shipped I decided to give it a try. I’d seen the Brother Label printers advertised anywhere between $100-$200, so this was a great price. When I received the printer it was quite a bit larger than I was thinking it would be. The extra size is to accommodate for the different widths of labels that Brother offers. The printer software has the ability to incorporate black & white pictures/drawings. The Sekio at work uses only 1 size label and also prints Text only. This was a huge upgrade from the Sekio at work. I love it so far and the price I received couldn’t be beat. Thanks Brother & buy.com.

This is a great label printer - I use it in a business environment for printing name/address lables, inventory labels, labels for file folders, labels for binders, shipping lables, etc. It is fast, and the fonts look great with no ragged edges. I Highly recommend this product for anyone who needs to print labels!

3 of 5 Software does not like my Mac or Brother All in on Saturday, May 26, 2007
A Customer from Hopkins, MN
Composing excellent labels is no problem, if you can set it up on an I-Mac G5 OS Tiger 10.4.9 which also has a Brother 8840D multifunction Laser Printer installed. After 5 hours with Brother on the phone we may finally have it ironed out. The software may not install from the disc so I was told and I had to download it on two occasions. The label printer worked for a while after the first download, then suddenly quit. After the second download with the help of a rep with no understanding of the MAC OS, it not only continued printing blank labels, but created error messages for the other three printers connected to the computer. After calling the multifunction machine help line, I was transferred to a Mac software consultant at Brother, who had me reset the printers, restart the computer, and now all printers work again--even the label printer. But for how long? I think the label printer will prove to be terrific, doing what it should, if my software issues have been finally worked out.

5 of 5 A Super Handy Label Printer Saturday, May 26, 2007
Rick Smith from Cambria, CA
I often print mailing labels, but trying to do this on a sheet of labels is a real pain, and hand writing them doesn't look professional. The Brother QL-500 is the perfect solution! I can easily print just one label or several. It is easy to use and looks very sharp and professional. I am quite happy with this item and would purchase it again.

5 of 5 Brother Printers Thursday, May 10, 2007
bugspop1 from Fort Wayne
I first purchased a Brother HL-1440 Laser printer about 5 years ago. It's worked flawlessly. I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate. My HP 1115 Photosmart printer (4yrs old) isn't supported by Vista or HP but my 5yr old Brother printer is supported by Brother. I decided not to purchase another HP because of this. I purhased a new Brother MFC-440CN multifunction machine to replace my HP and also my 10+ year old Canon scanner (not being supported either but it's very old). I've been very happy with the MFC-440CN (networkable, Fax, Scanner, Copy, Printer & multi-card reader) many extras. When I saw that Buy.com had the Brother QL-500 P-Touch Label Printer on sale for $39.99 shipped, I didn't hesitate to purchase one. I received the printer and first thing I had to download Vista Driver/Software from the Brother site, as did I with my MFC-440CN printer. This was the only thing I didn't like about it. After the download the install went perfectly. I played with the Label printer for a while, the software is great! At work we have a Sekio Label printer (it's older) and it doesn't even come close to comparing to this Brother Label Printer. It's an awesome printer, even at the buy.com current price of $79.11.

5 of 5 Works Exactly as it should Wednesday, March 21, 2007
Bill from Dayton, Ohio
What do you write about a label printer? Its small, in an attractive case. It works, it was easy to install and for the price I paid it was a steal. Installation was a breeze, the labels printed out instantly. I was amazed how quickly the labels will print out. My wife loves it. The included software works easily. I bought it here for substantially less than it's being sold for at this moment.

5 of 5 Flexibility, Easy, Worth every penny! Thursday, March 15, 2007
Jim W. from Virginia Beach, VA
This Label printer is very easy to use and setup was also a breeze. it prints individual labels right out of MS WORD, outlook and excel and the ability to add just about any image to the label itself is worth the purchase. This little wizard will accommodate a variety of label sizes. you can also use the continuous tape and make banners! making bar codes is also a snap. And for the value I received from Buy.com really made this item a GREAT BUY!

5 of 5 Works like a champ !!! Sunday, March 11, 2007
A Customer from San Antonio Texas
Works like a champ !!! A bargain at under $ 50.00 . I paid $ 100.00 + for my first . This is a second one for my office . Has many features that I havent used yet . Easy install & fairly simple software. Easy to cut & paste addresses into space for printing . Approx. 1 in 40 printed missfed for no app. reason , but easily fixed by pushing the feed button . I have never had to open the top except to put new rolls of labels in . Compact design sits next to my monitor . DK-1201 labels cost between .02-.03 cents each if you watch sales , coupons etc. Worth it if you want a professional look or send a lot of packages as I do .

5 of 5 Great Label Printer Thursday, March 08, 2007
sorsor from Somersworth, NH
I just received this printer today, and I love it. At first, I have a little problem to set it up because the computer keep telling me there has a file missing. However, I managed to download a driver file from brother's support website, and the problem was solved. The printer runs very fast and quiet. I really like that I can print single label a time. Now I own at least 5 Brother's products at home, and they all run great with PC and Mac.

3 of 5 They use the razor blades model. Tuesday, February 27, 2007
Harold K. from Arizona
I own two of these printers. The other commenters have stated nearly everything I could offer to say about this product, so here are some points I would like to emphasize: If you shop for it, the printer is low cost but the labels are not cheap. (Great prices, - Buy.com). Replacement paper cutters are way too expensive. The plastic cartridge is needlessly wasteful. (the thing you throw away when the labels are used up) I see that there are tabs or notches on it to tell the printer what kind of labels they are, but there has to be a better way. I am concerned about longevity of thermal labels. I believe they will fade over time. Laser labels will hold up longer, but using them is not as convenient as the Brother Label Printer is. Having said all that, the unit and the software is very capable. There are so many features available, I only use about 30 percent of them. I didn't get the rebate. I followed all of the rules, but they denied the rebate, saying the postmark date was invalid.

5 of 5 Nice printer Tuesday, December 19, 2006
A Customer from temple, tx
Hi, I love this printer. I can highlight any text and right click over it and print a label. It is very quick and easy to even print one label not like when you print a sheet of them from a regular printer. I paid 37.50 for the printer and could not be happier.

5 of 5 Awesome Little Machine Monday, December 18, 2006
A Customer from Frisco, TX
We just had a Christmas Party at our office and we printed all the nametags using this versatile little machine. It's easy to switch between different sizes of labels. The software that comes with the Brother QL-500 automatically recognizes the size label that has been inserted into the machine. We couldn't be happier with its performance.

5 of 5 Good Choice Wednesday, October 18, 2006

While the setup instructions in the manual make the process seem difficult, it couldn't be simpler. The software installs itself and all I had to do is respond to a few prompts. This is an excellent product.

5 of 5 Typical Brother Quality. Friday, October 06, 2006
Mike K - tango4 from Lakewood NJ
The only purpose my electronic typewriter served was typing address labels. So when the typewriter died, rather than spend $250 on a new one I decided to get one of these label printers and I'm glad I did. It does a beautiful job, is very easy to use and would be perfect for a small business. But it should be noted that it works through a computer and not independently. While I am competent at wordprocessing and other common computer functions at age seventy I find new things confusing, so I was a bit intimidated by the instruction manual, which is rather thick and typically 'busy.' But the installation process is really quite simple and only a few pages of the manual are relevant. The software virtually installs itself. There are a few steps which require attention and the entire process takes about half an hour to complete. I just followed the numbered steps in the manual, responded to a few computer prompts, called up the label software from the desktop icon, typed a label and printed it. Perfect!

5 of 5 Great Little Printer Sunday, August 06, 2006
shadrach1944 from Olive Hill, Kentucky
I bought one of these to use for mailing labels at my Masonic Lodge office. Setup and installation very easy. Prints very well, quick and easy. Takes up very little desk space. Easy to change sizes of labels, cartridges pop in and out simply. I purchased several label sizes, and all work well. The editing software is Fantastic, I've used the printer for a few days now, and am very satisfied with this purchase. and I am very pleased with the quality of service at Buy.Com. I will purchase the labels here at Buy.Com since we don't have any Local business that carries them.

5 of 5 Absolutely SUPERB! Saturday, July 09, 2005
Zilogian from Illinois
This is the first label printer that I've purchase, but I am TOTALLY SOLD on it. The printer prints very quickly and is really easy to use. I do like the manual cutter just because it's less prone to breaking than the automatic. The software that comes with it is very good IMHO. They include support to make the printer a virtual USB port over the network, so that network printing to it works flawlessly. So far, this is the best gizmo that I've purchased this year. Absolutely LOVE IT! Makes ebaying easier

5 of 5 Satisfied customer Saturday, May 28, 2005
Jeff from Los Angeles, CA
I'm very happy with the QL-500. More machine and fetures than I expected. I've been useing it about 4 months with no problems. Prints clear, clean and fast. Fun to use. Labels stick good and secure with no smudging or tearing and can be pealed off slowly in one piece if needed. The included software is a VERY complete label creating program, it has dozens of clip arts, frame styles, special functions, etc. to help create a special or standard label. After typing the wording onto the label, you can click the border around the label and stretch or compress the font to fit the label the way you want it to look, even turn the label 90 degrees. Type vertically or horizontally. The editing program is somewhat intimidating at first, I'm only useing about 25% of the features, learning a little more each time as needed. A full range of label sizes to choose from. I was shopping the Dymo 330 and the Brother small label printers with no preference except getting the best deal. The Dymo 330 has a smaller footprint and prints on a slightly wider label and is more expensive. Buy.com had the best price for both labelers compared to the local retailers in my area (OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples, etc. and web searches), with the Brother QL-500 being the least expensive and with free shipping & handling. I made the right choice. After receiving the QL-500 and trying it out, I order 6 additional label sizes from Buy.com. With the free shipping & handling over $25.00, the labels were about half the cost of what my local retailers were selling them for. I plan to order the "Continuous Length Tape" labels for my next order. My only issue is with the cost of the label 'cutter' replacement unit, $20.00 plus $6.00 S & H for two from Brother. Granted, the cutters are suppose to last through 5000 label cuts, but I would like a spare cutter and think they are over priced with too much shipping charges (the cutter is no bigger than a quarter in size).

Bob from Saint Louis, MO
I bought one of these to use for mailing labels at my office. Setup and installation very easy. Prints very well, quick and easy. Takes up very little desk space. Easy to change sizes of labels, cartridges pop in and out simply. I ended up buying a second one a couple of weeks later so that I would have two label choices without having to switch them. I purchased several label sizes, and all work well. The editing software could be simpler, but on the other hand, I haven't spent any time reading instructions and actually trying to learn how everything works. I've used the first printer for a few weeks now, and couldn't be happier.
