Seen on PBS Mystery! Series, this tangled tale stars Sir Derek Jacobi as Brother Cadfael, the intuitive crime-solving monk of medieval Shrewsbury. When a young monk claims to see visions of St. Winifred, Cadfael and a party from Shrewsbury Abbey trek to Wales to excavate her holy relics and are met with much hostility. When the main opponent to the monk’s efforts is murdered, not even the holy men-who are forbidden to leave with the relics until Cadfael identifies the killer-are exempt from suspicion.

When the monks set out to retrieve St. Winifred's bones for Shrewsbury Abbey, their chief obstacle is found dead--leaving them as the prime suspects. Another fine adaptation of Ellis Peters' Cadfael novels.
