Notes & Personnel Info | | This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other. | | British Invasion Masters is a groovy little set of tunes by true British Invasion bosses, though not the ones who are usually celebrated. The Beatles, the Stones, the Who and the Kinks don't appear here; that said, the collection of cuts compiled is engaging, to say the least. From the Searchers' and their read of "Love Potion No. 9," and Marmalade's "Reflections of My Life," to psychedelic innovations like the Status Quo's only psychedelic single, "Pictures of Matchstick Men," and the mod master himself, Alan Price and his Set's inimitable version of "I Put a Spell on You." The enclosed DVD side of this DualDisc has some great stuff, too: there's the Sorrows doing "Take a Heart," Donovan with "Catch the Wind," and the Tornadoes with in a BBC TV appearance playing "Telstar." Of all the items in this "masters" series, this is easily the best bet. ~ Thom Jurek |
