| | Professional Reviews | Your Video Store Shelf 5 of 10 [2] Everything that you'd expect to be present is. A dumbass blonde heroine, the bitch, a black girl, the uncharismatic guy who falls in the love with the dumbass blonde, angry theater girls, and worst of all, the self-serving dean are all included...To make matters worst, Bring It On Again completely spits on the sport of cheerleading by making it out to be an activity that anyone can do with a few days of practice. Keep in mind that I have very little respect for the "sport" of cheerleading, but Jesus H. Christ! The New York Times 8 of 10 [1] ...the fact that a bouncy teenage sports comedy can even gesture toward serious matters of race and economic inequality is pretty impressive, as is the occasional snarl of genuine satire. The vicious back-stabbing and defensive homophobia of the cheerleaders seem as accurate as the high school vernacular in which they address one another...It is Ms. Dunst who carries the movie and unifies its disparate elements. She's a terrific comic actress... - A.O. Scott Chicago Sun-Times 6 of 10 [1] "Bring It On" contains within it the seeds of a sharp and observant high school satire, maybe something in the same league (although not as high in the standings) as "Election" or "Rushmore." I'll bet anything Jessica Bendinger's original screenplay was a lot smarter than the dumbed-down PG-13 version we get here. The movie as it now stands is too juvenile and insipid for older teenagers and has way too much language and sex for kids 13 and below. - Roger Ebert Film Freak Central 7 of 10 [2] I'll say this much for Bring It On Again: it isn't nearly as bad as you might expect. Against all odds, the straight-to-video production shows traces of wit and a surfeit of good basic ideas in its tale of rival cheerleading squads, but alas, it was not to be: its core concept withers on the vine in favour of slapped-together aesthetics and teen-sitcom repartee. Par for the dtv course, its creators only seem interested in squeezing a few bucks out of the target demographic; the results, though far from painful, cruelly tantalize us with a glimmer of the film that might have been. - Travis Hoover
