1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Stop considering--MUST SEE. Saturday, May 29, 1999 A Viewer from New York, NY
I just finished watching this, and I liked it so much, I hopped on-line to write this review.
Cinematography was ABSOLUTELY beautiful (definitely high budget). The vivid colors, set, and camera angles created a fantasy world that seemed like the live-action version of a chinese comic book combined with Japanese animation.
The fact that the movie was made in 1993 (6 years ago!) was not apparent at all--the imagery made it timeless and it very well could have passed for a current production with no tell-tale signs.
Acting was superb. Brigette Lin is awesome and perfect for her role.
Story was romantic, emotional, and had great action scenes. Sound-track was exceptionally great as well (one of the best I've experienced) with it's theatrical beats.
To my extreme disappointment, they don't make movies like this anymore.
One of those movies you didn't want to end. Now one of my favorites, it's a MUST see--and at with a price like this, it's a MUST buy. This is coming from a fan of swordplay fantasies like Swordsman 2 (my top favorite). Was this review helpful?
