| | | "New York Times"-bestselling author Koontz delivers a thrilling novel of suspense and adventure, in this story of a world where good itself is an endangered species and one man will risk his life--and more--to save it from extinction. Annotation: Bestselling author Dean Koontz, who made his name with medical thrillers, has also made a reputation as a lover of animals--mostly through his books written about (and "by") his dog Trixie. In BREATHLESS, he tells an allegorical story of two mysterious creatures, who appear out of nowhere and irrevocably change the lives of a man and woman. When Colorado carpenter Gary Adams spots the creatures in the woods near his house, he calls on his friend, veterinarian Cammy Rivers for advice. But like Gary, Cammy has never seen an animal resembling this beautiful species. But when the Department of Homeland Security puts a call out for Gary and Cammy because of these animals, the two risk everything to protect the innocent creatures.
| Author Bio| Dean Koontz | | Along with Stephen King, Koontz is the preeminent horror writer of his age, selling millions and millions of books worldwide. Koontz had a horrific childhood; his father was an abusive alcoholic and his mother was mentally unstable, and they both actively discouraged him from pursuing a writing career. However, when the 12-year-old Koontz won an essay contest, the seed was planted. He studied education and was a high school English teacher from 1967 to 1969, at which point he began writing full time. At the end of the '90s, Dean Koontz has written nearly 80 books of suspense or horror. |
