Friendship Can Be a Real Drag.

Features: DVD

Kip and Henry work at an advertising agency as an artist and writer respectively. When the apartment that they were living in was condemned, they had no place to live. So Amy their co-worker, who has a crush on Henry, suggests that they stay with her but the only the problem is that it's for girls only. So they get into drag and assume the personas of Buffy and Hildegarde. When Kip meets Sonny, Amy's attractive roommate, he is smitten and when they learn that there's a vacancy in the building, Kip convinces Henry to take it so he can be close to Sonny, and so that this experience might be good material for a book that Henry can write.

Includes all 38 episodes of Bosom Buddies!

"Classic '80s sitcom enthusiasts will be dancing in the streets..."  Brett Cullum, DVD Verdict
"...a mix of "Some Like It Hot" with a serious Studio 54 hangover...[featuring] soaring comic energy..."  Brian Orndorf, DVD Talk

Editor's Note

Before he became a star of the silver screen, dramatic actor Tom Hanks made a comedic splash in the gender-bending 1980s sitcom BOSOM BUDDIES. When their condemned tenement is demolished by a wrecking ball, struggling advertising copywriters Kip (Hanks) and Henry (Peter Scolari) decide to rent an apartment in the same building as their friend Amy (Wendie Jo Sperber). The only trouble is, Amy lives in an all-female residential hotel, forcing Kip and Henry to don drag and masquerade as their "sisters" Buffy and Hildegarde, leading to a quirky series of cross-dressing misadventures that would make Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis proud. This collection presents the shortlived series in its entirety for a total of two complete seasons.

5 of 5 A Classic Show Sunday, September 09, 2007
Albert from San Antonio, TX

One of the most forgotten shows from the 80's, but also some great comedy. The entire series is only two seasons, 37 total episodes on six discs. If you remember the show, you'll love it. And if you don't it'll still crack you up. The only negatives are that there are no special features. And the biggest complaint from fans of the show is that the original intro song by Billy Joel, "It's My Life", isn't used on the DVDs. Instead, the song that was used for the closing credits back then, "Shake Me Loose", by Stephanie Mills is used for the intro. If you can get past that, then you'll love this show.
