Like the famous duos in THE X-FILES and MOONLIGHTING, the prickly pairing of Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel, GLORY ROAD) and Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, ANGEL) is what drives this crime series. As Brennan and Booth butt heads, they attempt to solve grisly mysteries with his FBI experience and her knowledge of forensic anthropology. The show's adept mix of crime and comedy rides on the strong shoulders of their chemistry. This drama draws inspiration from the life and work of bestselling author Kathy Reichs, a forensic anthropologist like her onscreen counterpart. The old days when cops and G-men solved crimes with grit and shoe leather seem so '90s in today's high-tech age, where the government's latest weapon is forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. "Bones" aspires to achieve a mix of "House" and "X-Files" chic (there's even a reference to Scully and Mulder), but for the most part its playful banter feels forced and the way-cool visual flourishes overly familiar. What's left, then, is another crime procedural with a not-especially-fresh twist...The series' best wrinkle actually involves the somewhat testy relationship that exists between FBI agent Seeley Booth, played by "Angel" alum David Boreanaz, and the evidence-examining scientists he derisively refers to as "squints," who shouldn't be trusted in the field. - Brian Lowry

I am a big fan of the Bones TV show so having the series on DVD saves me from watching the reruns WITH THE COMMERCIALS. The quality is great and I can watch at my convenience.
